Yes please to more blind country identification! Bravo to Noah for being so spot on! Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is probably my favorite type of wine (I love aromatic dry white wines) ever, but it’s so cool to see what else New Zealand can do! Awesome video, super interesting.

Early on in my wine journey I would pick a region & try to find every example of what producers were growing. More recently I have been choosing a varietal & finding examples throughout the world of that grape. Both angles have helped me learn what the terroir does versus what the fruit brings to the table. Absolutely love the channel - all the different angles you take help me learn. [Though I do wish more of these wines were avail in US]

Had Gooseberry planted all around the barn at my Grandparent’s farm in northern Sweden, used to make marmelade and jam from it. They are SUPER tart when not ripe, and they ripen late in the season. But come to think about it dont think I’ve ever seen it sold commercially…

Love seeing Henry being a graphic design AND an orange wine elitist ("You know, I've had so many, I need something a BIT more left of the center to pique my interest"). Also, I've definitely had a lot of gooseberry growing up in Sweden. They are somehow tasty and not tasty at the same time.

You could probably get some cape gooseberry (aka peruvian groundcherry). Like a cross between a passionfruit and a very ripe cherry tomato. They grow really well in Adelaide!

Great episode and looks like an absolute blast! I'm finding the Bilancia for between $30-$36 per bottle in Auckland. Te Mata Awatea 2019 is between $38-$50. The Kumeu Coddington from $65 and up, the Unkel Life's for $34, the Blank Canvas for $30. Can't find the 2021 Charteris, though the 2022 is $55.

Yeah here in NZ these wines are a bit cheaper, but not by quite as much as you'd expect but I've seen that Syrah in stores in NZ for like ~$30 NZD so I'll definitely give it a go. The same producer has another Syrah called 'La Collina' which is quite a bit more expensive (like over $100), not sure if it's available in Aus, but it could be an interesting side-by-side comparison? 18:47 Our beaches aren't all frosty! Only down south - the ones in the north are pretty warm all summer, so a cheeky glass or two of chilled wine goes down a treat 😁 I really enjoyed the episode, please do more of this format!

Boys you should be able to pick ultra high quality Chardonnay. And the high $ flows from the high production costs (oak, winery tricks etc) involved.
@wineforthepeople
@wineforthepeople 3 ай бұрын
You'd be surprised, production costs are often comparable between mid and high tier wines! Price isn't always attributable to inherent cost, there's a solid argument for brand being the predominant driver of value.
