If you experience stiffness or discomfort in your neck, shoulders or upper back, this is the perfect class for you! Daily tasks like sitting at a desk, holding purses, carrying children or long hours of driving can leave us with a lot of tension in the upper body.
This Yin Yoga class is designed to help you bring movement back into that area and leave you feeling open and relaxed. We'll intertwine a few hip openers throughout the class as to not completely ignore the lower body.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Use as many props as needed in Yin Yoga! Blocks, bolsters and straps are all great ways to support your body to make sure you are respecting your edge and not going too far.

By far the best yoga videos I have found. I have been following for a while and every time I try someone else I’m disappointed. This mainly has to do with the amount of talking vs not talking. Kassandra, you explain just enough but don’t show the need to time fill verbally . Thank you , thank you , thank you.

Hey I just wanted to say: I have had tension headaches/migraines for a few years now, and I'm another person in your comments who has been helped more by following this video (like 2-3 times a week) than by more doctors and medicines than I feel like counting right now. I was able to drop a med that was giving me bad side effects and this video helped me get my doc's approval to do so. Thank you!!

ive been doing yoga since i was 23 and now Im 67. I learned new awarenesses in this class, how to position oneself and what to focus on in "thread the needle" , for example. Lovely phrasing like " breathe to where you feel it" created awareness of my mind inside and my mind on my skin. I intend to do this yoga with Kassandra again. I already repeated the neck sequences at the very beginning about 4 times before going on. Thanks Kassandra, from a recently created fan.

I appreciate your KZfaq channel. I work in a food cart, and I wondered if you would do a video of yoga for food service workers. We're on our feet 8+ hours per day, and are most often slightly bent at the waist. Also, our hands are constantly called upon to do repetitive motions such as chopping, scooping, flipping, and wrapping. Thank you! We are looking down at either a counter or grill must if the day. I followed this class because I had a stiff neck yesterday. The class was great for my neck, but it was unexpectedly really beneficial for pain I've been suffering in my elbow for a couple of months after some extensive snow shoveling. My elbow feels much better after this class. Thank you. I'll be repeating this video again.

I really like this Yoga Class - Thank you very much for posting. But for me it is more a deep stretching routine than a Yin Yoga practice. In Yin Yoga you stay in a single pose for a minimum of 3 minutes in order to get to the fasciae.

After days of unrelenting upper back/shoulder pain, I turned to this class to gently stretch out the tender muscles. What relief!! Thank you so much for this lovely, restorative yin class, Kassandra! Just what I needed. 🙏

Thank you for your free class. It helped calm my depression and anxiety this evening. It would be great to have an extended version of this class where we have a bit longer in each pose (some pauses were not enough time for ten slow breaths) and more time for slow transitions between them (for those of us with injuries that make us extra stiff.)

This is my second time trying yoga for neck and back pain that I suffer from. I loved the music in the background and your voice is very soothing. Will be doing more. Thankyou

Tears just rolled down my face when I was in shavasna. I don’t know why I cry sometimes when doing yoga. Great practice, Kassandra,

Thank you sooo much for this class. You have no idea the relief I’ve gotten. My neck and shoulders have been so tight lately..I blame being locked down and COVID, creating so much stress and tension in our lives and bodies.This class would benefit everyone in these times. I would recommend every person feeling the stress these times are creating to do this class every day. Ahhhh I feel amazing. Thanks again Kassandra. 🙏🏼🥰💕

Kassandra, this was beautiful...It was amazing for the back. I forgot all the pain and it took me on a beautiful journey...Excellent..First Yoga video that truly felt more than just physical stretching..Excellent!!!!!

Thank you Kassandra for such wonderful classes. Your classes have proved to be a wonderful complement to my ashtanga practice. Both equally challenging but both with a sense of calm. I appreciate that you allow us to feel silence in the practice. One of the few online teachers who don't feel inclined to talk during the whole session. It really helps deepen the poses.

Hi Kassandra. You're very articulate. As a beginner online one tends to have to look back and forth at the screen a lot and it's an awkward distraction, a lot more so than when one goes to a class (because you can pick up the motions from the people around you). So my tip is to keep up that good work where you explain things in a way so that minimizes the online-students need to look back and forth at the screen.
