It was -38° inside the tent when I arrived. I actually ended up with a bit of frostbite on this trip, but it was so worth it. I want it to be cold. I wish it was -50 and I'm not kidding. Imagine being out there and surviving in -50, that would be an awesome experience. I guess I just have to settle for -38 ;)!
BTW, the frostbite isn't anything serious and I've encountered it before on my face up here in the North.
Here are all of my tiny cabin hot tent videos: kzfaq.info?list...

How much experience do I have?
That depends. I am pretty good at starting a fire these days and gathering wood. But I don't really have true bushcraft skills and definitely no carpentry or construction skills or training. I could probably make a shelter if I had to, but that would just come from all the KZfaq training (watching) over the years.

I always feel so welcome at your camp. I like the way you talk to the audience as though we're there with you and we're hanging out and we're just friends. It's not like you're doing a classroom instruction. I also love your filming and editing. Great job. I'm happy that you just went to the camp to enjoy nature and the weather and that you didn't have to do any work

Awesome video Jay. Your dinner looked amazing and so did your breakfast. Love watching your videos. My husband and I live in the bush with only wood heat. Once the fire goes low it doesn't take long for the cold to start creeping in and we have insulation in our walls!!We live in a fifth wheel trailer with a log addition on the front side.We are 45 minutes from civilization so even though we have more than a tent, we still have to be well prepared in those deep minus temps.Other than satellite internet and phone, we have no services either. I couldn't imagine living any other way. Thanks for sharing your camping trip with us. Stay safe and warm. :)

Jay, that area that got frost bite...take care for the rest of the winter. When i was a kid, I almost lost my whole cheek to frostbite. Next winter you will be OK. Once flesh sees frostbite, can refreeze very easy.

Lol...I thought I was the only one who got emotional over trees, 😭 favourite blocks of wood 🪵 and plants. It kills me seeing a live tree 🌳 cut down. What I love about the bushcraft series is you guys only take down dead trees and use them for firewood. I know my plants 🪴 will seed and regrow, but...hate to see them die. (Am sure my family think I'm as nutty as a frutcake). I look forward to your adventures Jay, and that tent and stove is awesome and cosy looking in snow ❄ and cold. So excited for a 2022 of watching all my bushcraft shows. Missing Posa, Monty and Rueger and AB and Brucie too. In fact, I enjoy everyone who does these shows. That fish looks delish. So long last we had fresh fish. Have a Bells whiskey and enjoy the adventures. 😃 😊.

Only Jay Legere can make a day/ night at -39°C seem cozy. So soothing to watch! Maybe because everyone can relate to a man doing his favorite activity on his own, no distractions, and feeling good doing it. Minus the frostbyte ofc 😆 Hope you didn't scar your face, I never knew that frostbyte on the skin was permanent

Another great video Jay! I can tell just by the way you talk that you really enjoy your time out there, no matter the temperature. And you eat like a king too! The minute I saw the Balderson cheese 🧀 my mouth started to water. That’s one of my favourite foods ever is really old cheese. My mum used to bring home 7 year old cheese from a dairy in Ottawa when she’d go there to visit my granny. Finding joy in the simple things is a skill not many people have and you do it with ease. Can’t wait for the next one! Stay safe out there!

That cast iron pan will be a great addition to the cookware and it will last forever if you take care of it. That salmon looked amazing too. Nice to hear that you can keep warm and cozy in those crazy cold temperatures with minimal stove tending. Also looks like the pile of snow is doing its job keeping the propane tank 'warm'. All cylinders firing at the tent. Happy New Year to everyone out there watching Jay make it happen. Best of everything in 2022.

Always look forward to your weekend camping trips. Unreal how cold that is and that you brave the trip out there in that. Watching you take it up a notch and cook on the outdoor pit in those temps was just great! Dedication and pure happiness right there. I love cooking out on my weber charcoal grills and smoker year round here in Central NY and will cook even in -5 -10 Fahrenheit but that's balmy compared to what you're cooking in. The channels growing, your content is fantastic, your doing what you love and it shows. I'm sure I speak for all of us here, we appreciate you bringing us along for these trips. I look forward to seeing the progress on the new spot this winter. You've come along way since the dirt floor and red table. You should make a little insulated pad to pull the front of your snowmobile on beside your tent at night. Also run a higher octane, if you're not already, and prime the fuel pump 3 or 4 times before cranking it over.

Water stores heat very good . You should get a very big metal container and fill with water and let it be boiling warm. That will keep alot of warm from your fireplace during the night. Maybe add some more aluminum sheeting around the fireplace for more reflecting the heat back to you .

It’s makes a huge difference in cold weather. Mine is always covered at my Cabin when I’m up there. Second, get one of those heat powered Stove fans that u can put on top of your Woodstove. Lol, yes frostbite is a serious matter, but we used to just call it "wind burn." I'm surprised that most of us still have the tips of our noses on our faces considering how frozen our faces would get after a day of snow mobiling in subzero temperatures. Seems like the best and brightest days were also some of the coldest!

Hey Jay, you can get a stove and heat exchange unit that slips into your stove pipe, that will help improve the efficiency of your wood stove. As it catches some of the heat lost through the stove pipe, and would also expand its usefulness in cooking.
