To talk about the next movie, I believe they will talk more about peach’s past that will eventually lead to Daisy! I think they are setup nicely to have King Boo as the new evil villain for the second movie. I think Mario and Luigi’s business will be at a all time high where they need to hire wario and walaugi. I’m sure Yoshi will be a big part of the movie. But I think this time Mario, Peach and Donky Kong will be captured by King Boo making Luigi the big Hero to save them with the help of Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, diddy and Dixie Kong with the help of Yoshi. I’m sure Luigis mansion will be a huge part of the next movie that could release during Halloween (years from now). But let’s not for a second think that at the end of the 2nd movie that they won’t end it with Metal Mario(just saying). This is just a start of a trilogy, these Mario movies will be around for a long long time!

The dog bit sets up Mario and Luigi as being capable of action, results in their act 1 failure, allows them to foreshadow fighting a little monster, and also gets paid off when he defeats the bomber bill. (Both the dog yelp sound effect, and the mama Mia flip get called back)

@@foamytomato9342 I completely agree. Aside from other things regarding it, I hated the whole thing. I've never seen an animated movie so desperate 2 please in my entire life. Over-focus-grouped 2 death, with none of the cool storytelling or characterization that Nintendo puts into their own games. I can't stand it, & I wish it never existed; in its own way, it's every bit as atrocious at the 1993 movie.😢

That brigade of Yoshis running on the island were every color except green, which is why the post credits scene was important! Just like how there’s a bunch of toads in the mushroom kingdom, but the main toad being the red spots and blue vest which others don’t. I saw this as a tease that the (main) green yoshi is representative of the one we play as in his own respective series to indicate he’ll be a main character in the sequel. For me personally, I LOVED this post credits scene! :)

I hated this post credits scene Like I get it's the main yoshi that they are teasing but at the end of the day it's just a color swap of the Yoshi's we already saw in the movie Now if they would've teased Wario and Waluigi or the koopalings or especially Bowser Jr THEN I would've been hyped for the sequel but as of right now I have low hopes for it

Personally, I think the post credit scene should've cut back to Bowser's Castle and we hear a TEASE of Bowser Jr setting up a sequel. The Yoshi PCS felt kinda like a weak tease of the sequel

@@ENNARDENTERTAINMENT19871983 I get where you're coming from but in the movie there was only like 5 seconds with any Yoshis on screen. And they already had a full model and effects and everything, so it just shows that they're saving it for the second movie. And don't forget, in the Sonic 2 movie Knuckles appeared even though he wasn't in the post credits of the first, so I'm assuming Wario and Waluigi (and maybe the rest) will be there too.

@@qwertious the Yoshi's still appeared even if it was for 5 seconds the only difference is that the yoshi in post credits was green and the others are different colors And yes Knuckles appeared in Sonic 2 even though he wasn't in the post credits but he was kinda alluded to in the post credits Tails says I'm hope I'm not too late and in the movie he was trying to find Sonic before Knuckles did This post credits only confirms yoshi no one else nothing else at all which is why I don't like it Maybe to have the cake and eat it too they could've got rid of the Bowser singing post credits and replaced that with yoshi and for the second one they could've showed Jr

That final scene when Mario and Luigi grab the Superstar and beat Bowser to a pulp is EXACTLY how I wanted the ending to go down. With the epic Inviciblity Theme cover and the Mario 64 tail toss thrown in, it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this movie.

The dogs look of utter disbelief when Luigi steps on his bone is the funniest part in this movie to me. I couldn’t stop laughing as he kept his wide eyes on Luigi as he licked his owner 😂

Bowser not potentially being the bad guy again sets up Bowser Jr. perfectly. Him wanting to rescue his dad and having the newly hatched yoshi from the credits join mario and Luigi could be an amazing sequel. Plus Bowser Jr. is the villain for Yoshis Wooly World game.

bowser singing his song was the best part oml, my friend couldn’t breathe, we almost started crying lmaoo oh and the scene where mario and luigi FINALLY reunited was so freaking cute, they way they held their faces and how mario was so protective of his brother🥹🥹 but i really hope they bring in rosalina, whether that be for the second or third movie because i just love that girl. a very good movie indeed😁

I’m 19 and I took my 10 year old brother to see this on Wednesday, and man it was so heartwarming to see the brother dynamic on screen. Especially growing up with Mario then sharing that as he grew up was a true full circle moment for me!

I’m gonna be honest I love how bowser was written but there were some things I wanted to see. First off, I think that bowser should have gotten a proper backstory just like peach. I think that they should have addressed why peach and bowser are enemies, and why he’s evil. Like what led up to him being evil. I think they would make him more complex and interesting. They really did fail to realize his soft side, they did acknowledge it but not enough. Bowser from the game really cares about peach (ik he kidnaps her but he does have respect for her to some degree) in paper Mario the oragami king, when peach is kidnapped by another enemy bowser wonders if she’s okay and if she has something to read, showing he genuinely cares. In the movie he’s just selfish and doesn’t care about peaches feelings whatsoever and even goes as far as the threaten to destroy her kingdom and kill her tosds, and literally tries to burn her to a crisp when she refuses to marry him. I think bowser “soft” side in the movie was really weak. I also really think that it would be really sweet if bowser was evil and hated the mushroom kingdom because he feels excluded from society and an outcast, so he directs that anger at the mushroom kingdom and peach. I think that would explain a lot and that would really put to rest a lot of the questions the Nintendo community has about bowser for all these years. I really think they failed to explore bowsers soft side in an appropriate way.

I LOVED that we finally got to see who the blue shell koopa actually looks like and how we saw him destroy Mario and donkey kongs kart. I was also playing Mario kart before I actually saw the movie. I ALSO ADORE THE VERY END CREDIT SCENE with yoshi going YOSHI. I hope we get to see bowser jr and both wario and walugi in the Second one

I really hope that Mario 2 introduces Wario and waluigi. It would be so cool for them to be the main villains in the sequel. But we could also see browsers kids being the main villains, trying to get their father back from the mushroom kingdom.

What I love about the movie is the callbacks and references to the Mario games and the Super Mario Super Show Theme also I can't wait to see where it goes if they decided to continue this and hopefully this opens the door to Future projects that illumination and Nintendo could do I would love to see an animated legend of Zelda movie with Andrew Garfield being the voice of Link

@@foamytomato9342 That's just straight-up not true. They did so much with the world-building, expanding the backgrounds of the characters, giving them personality to a degree we've never seen before. Sure, the movie isn't a masterclass in how to write cinema, but it never needed to be. It just needed to be fun for Mario fans to watch. And it 100% succeeded.

And they did a fine job, it didn't set out to be anything more than what it was. What the fuck were you expecting? Or do you bring this same energy and expectation to every family film? Guaruntee you're not going onto "Minions" trailers commenting "they said banana too much, 1/10" so what makes Mario any different? Would you like it more if they followed their video game counterparts and had no dialogue? What piece of Mario based media are you comparing this movie with the one where he jumps on the turtle and saves the princess? Because that's literally all of them.

I was genuinely surprised they did the wedding story in the first movie since it’s a new story with odyssey but I absolutely loved the movie. The one that blows my mind is the skip cut on rainbow road where you can jump off the side at the right moment and skip most of the map. I too clapped and smiled real big on the blue shell moment. So cool!

I literally just finished watching this movie again with my younger brother, who is also taller than me, what the odds? 😂 and we both loved it! We both thought the animation was gorgeous, the music was great to listen to, yes, that includes the licensed songs, and our favorite part was definitely the final battle with the Superstar Bros., not to mention that Bowser was just plain AWESOME in this movie, everything about him was either badass or funny as Hell! Even the voice-acting was on-point, we actually liked Seth Rogen as DK, despite him not giving him a unique voice, honestly, Rogen's voice really does work for DK's personality! If there was one thing that needed work, it was just the pacing! That's actually extremely impressive if the one thing they needed to fix, was making the film longer! Definitely a 9/10, I highly recommend this film to everyone & their brother/sibling and it made a wonderful Bonding moment with my brother, who I unfortunately can't see much anymore due to my college life away from home.

Cringtro 10/10😂 This movie was fantastic! I loved it and everything was just perfect! First off the animation was was stellar and the voice casting was great! From the opening scene it just put the BIGGEST grin on my face. I haven't had this much fun in a long time! The score was also Stellar and when i heard certain sound notes i got way to happy. Every single character felt like the games and every scene was amazing! The only tiny nitpick is that I wish it could of been a bit longer but the time I had was amazing! I definitely need to see this again. A nintendo fans dream!

I think for the second movie, it's possible that Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad will have to face off against Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings who rescue Bowser and we learn that the reason Bowser wants to marry Peach is so that the Koopalings will have a mom. Not only that, but Mario and Luigi will discover Yoshi as well and even though he may start off as running around, they will eventually tame him and he will become a part of the team.

First time i got to go out to a theater with my friends and we had a good time watching this film. It was so faithful to the Mario games that after the movie ended me, my friends, and everybody in the theater clapped and cheered at how good this movie was.

My only complain is the lack of breathing room between the action scenes, if there where a few more scenes where the characters could bond this would have been perfect. As for Peach, I didn't had a single issue with her here. She didn't felt outa place at all.

As always great intro!Chris i brought my 8 year old son to this last night who said dad, this will be my favorite movie this year! In my opinion best video game to movie adaptation. It’s got everything for everyone! People who know the games should be pleased & any who has never played a game it’s just a great movie with incredible visuals & a quick easy fun story fir the kids & family. Excited for # 2!

Just saw the movie, and it was amazing. I laughed at a few/couple parts. I thought Luigi could've had more potential with his character, until he saved Mario from Bowser's fire breath so they could both obtain the Super Star (which actually made me a bit emotional and proud of him/Luigi at the same time). Smart choice to make [Princess] Peach more of a warrior. She went from a Damsel in Distress to a "Damn/Dang she Dangerous". If there is a sequel or at least a spin-off focusing around Luigi, they should definitely introduce Daisy. If or when the Illumination Mario movie becomes a franchise, there should definitely be a crossover with Sonic using the "Mario and Sonic and the Olympic Games" into a movie, as long as Paramount Pictures and Illumination agree on it.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE I watched it last Thursday and my face instantly smiled when I saw all the references and I bet they’re going to do a whole lot in the sequel. (Btw Waluigi is pronounced WA-Luigi not the whole word your welcome lol) I loved how the story is around the brothers and I loved Jack Blacks Bowser's song.

I love this movie! I think it could be cool to have Wario himself along with Waluigi be the antagonists of the 2nd movie. They'd have to think up an origin for him because I think being Mario's childhood bully isn't good enough. Maybe they're some kind of side effect of a power up or from a doppelganger universe

I loved this movie so much and I noticed so so many Easter eggs in this it honestly was just like a giant love letter to the fans. For the third movie tho I already got the post credit scene… Sonic shows up in a ring portal and says, “so you’re Mario huh? Come with me, it’s time to go smashing” 😅😂

I love this film. It had so many good references. I almost cried at the superstar theme. The penguin scene at the beginning gave me chills. The super kong with take on me was great and the whole mario kart section was great and so was the finale

Chris pratt and charlie day surprised me they were amazing, also i agree with you a donkey kong country movie would be awesome . One more thing bowser always knew what the main crew was doing and where they were going and early on kamek mentioned they had informants somewhere out there and i was guessing that toad was feeding info to bowser and kamek which is why he would insist on going with the gang on the adventure to begin with and why we find him outside the mushroom kingdom in the beginning and not inside

I loved the movie. Jack black’s singing was so funny, Charlie day was perfect as luigi, Chris Pratt was surprisingly good as Mario and Anya Taylor joy was great princess peach. that post credits scene of yoshi was so cute. I really hope we get to see princess daisy and Rosalina.

I absolutely loved this movie, I think the creators did an amazing job, especially with the callbacks and references, there really never was a dull moment, so the movie seemed to go by quick, it was just packed with loads of fun, and totally enjoyable!

My favorite things about the movie were the animation, music, & refrences; plus the Mario games have a basic, fun story was reflected in the movie

I liked the Yoshi scene at the end but only because when we see Yoshis, not a single one is green. This leads me to believe that this green OG Yoshi will be one of, if not the only one which confirms the actual OG Yoshi coming into play in th enext film. But I agree, it was not the post credit scene I was really wanting.

To talk about the next movie, I believe they will talk more about peach’s past that will eventually lead to Daisy! I think they are setup nicely to have King Boo as the new evil villain for the second movie because of the wizard. I think Mario and Luigi’s business will be at a all time high where they need to hire wario and walaugi. I’m sure Yoshi will be a big part of the movie. But I think this time Mario, Peach and Donky Kong will be captured by King Boo making Luigi the big Hero to save them with the help of Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, diddy and Dixie Kong with the help of Yoshi. I’m sure Luigis mansion will be a huge part of the next movie that could release during Halloween (years from now). But let’s not for a second think that at the end of the 2nd movie that they won’t end it with Metal Mario(just saying). This is just a start of a trilogy, these Mario movies will be around for a long long time!

I loved this movie I was nervous watching it but after your spoiler free review It just made me excited again and when I saw it I loved it probably the most fun I’ve had in a while and made me smile throughout the entire runtime and now I guess I’m in some gaming phase and this made me happy like I wasn’t this happy before until when I saw this. Glad this was made.

About Yoshi appearing at the end. I do get it considering we've seen different colored Yoshi's in the background. But we have to remember that when Mario first appeared in the Mushroom Kingdom in the games, Yoshi wasn't even born yet. I believe they are portraying the same thing here in the upcoming sequel.

The villain would probably be either Wart or Bowser jr and the koopalings. But I would like the sequel's villain to be Fawful. Fawful is an entertaining villain and the game where he was the main threat, he did major damage in that one.

Just got back from seeing the movie and absolutely LOVED IT! I will forever hear Jack Black’s Bowser singing, “PEACHES PEACHES PEACHES PEACHES!” and I’m LIVING for it😂

I LOVED THIS MOVIE IN EVERY SINGLE WAY the Easter eggs, animation, And script. I Loved when we got to see what the blue shell actually looks like and how he destroyed Mario and donkey kongs kart. Also If you noticed when Mario was drifting he boosted like in the game. I know this because I was literally playing Mario kart yesterday. When I saw rainbow road I was excited too. But you didn’t mention the star fox ship above the tv 😏 Edit: I almost forgot I LOVED The end credit scene where yoshi was like YOSHI. I hope we get to see bowser jr and both wario and walugi in the next movie 😁😁😁 I can already imagine that peaches song becoming a meme in the future 😂😂😂 One last thing SO LONELY BOWSER

I mean there was an Easter egg for one of the Kooplings. The piano Bowser was playing on had the name Ludwig Von Koopa so they most likely exist

Imagine if Bowser is still the villain in the sequel but Bowser Jr breaks him free and they give more depth to that relationship kind off like in Sunshine and this time Mario & Luigi spend the movie together trying to save Peach from them like traditionally. And they could have Peach see a different side of Bowser with Jr making her want to help them be better, as well as Mario teaching Luigi what he knows about the Mushroom kingdom so far, and exploring other worlds like in the games. That’s just some quick thoughts but I think they would be cool expanded upon.

1. I want Foreman Spike, fire DK, and blue para troopa in the mainline games now 2. Even though we didn’t get much after they talked about it I love that they touched upon Peach’s backstory. We’ve never gotten much about that before 3. I really liked that Mario and Luigi had a sweet brotherly love. I wish there was a little more exploring that 4. I need to see all the artwork hanging in the Punch Out Pizzeria. There’s stuff in there that’s completely new for the movie. Plus I want a Punch Out movie 5. I just wish some scene had a little more time to breathe. Like the scene with Mario and Peach in the fire flower garden. I like that moment but it was a little too fast

At first when they announced Chris Pratt was Mario I was kinda iffy about it but he did a good job, I loved the movie. It reminded me of the Bowser in Odyssey because he had the same motive.

the movie is the definition of CINEMA! i loved every second in this movie, it had everything for me, i went the first day its release and my CROWD WAS CHEERING (no way home vibes) definitely checking it 2 more times in theaters.

I watched the movie in 4dx and the mario kart scene was insane my audience clapped 3 times throughout the movie when mario beat donkey kong, when the rainbow road scene ended and the end, overall I did have problems with the movie but I enjoyed my time with the movie

I loved this movie so much. so far its in the top 3 of the year just behind scream IV and john wick 4. (I haven't seen creed 3 yet) yeah it's no masterpiece but as someone who's favorite game is Mario odyssey, I can't help but love this movie. probably going to be in my top 10 at the end of the year.

I had so much fun watching this movie! It looked amazing, all the call backs to the games, and the whole cast was great but Jack Black really stood out! My entire theater clapped after the movie!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! 10/10 so much fun for adults and kids. So much nostalgia. I loved the eggs I could pick out made me feel pride. And loved the peach trials seeing the many ways I die in the game! 😅😅
