Meet Paul's 2007 Mega Cab 3500 Ram sitting on a Carli Unchained system. When he isn't answering the phone here at the shop, Paul is out beating the living daylights out of this truck. It's been to hell and back 5 times and is sending it. This truck has spent more time in the air than it has on the ground thanks to the Carli Suspension unchained system and tons of aftermarket parts to make this battle wagon tough as nails.

Pretty cool I ordered a starter setup with the sway bar and torsion bar. Called to make sure the sway bar was shipped and talked to Paul, think it was this guy sounded like him. Always a plus to talk with somebody who has same truck and knows what exactly your talking about even if you yourself aren’t quite knowledgeable about components or it’s your first build, these guys can get you setup right with quality. Real people that find real solutions to the everyday driver.. keep up the good work gentlemen..

After the starter kit is installed with sway bar and track bar, and ball joints would synergy steering be a good additional upgrade? I have a dual steering stabilizer by BDS atm.

Beast! Only thinkg I'd recommend is replacing the Timbrens with Sumosprings, from personal experience as the Sumosprings did just a good a job of stabilizing my truck during towing but added extra dampening when I hit the dunes without sacrificing too much flex.

I have a 2007 5.9 mega. With carli 3 inch. I see baja fenders. I have the front baja fenders. Putting rear on this winter. Can you make a video of a little more detail on switches and suspension. Plan on building my like yours.

This...is nice! I like serious off-road trucks. The tires actually have some meat on em instead of being low-profile mud tires. The rig is well done and purpose-built for doing real off-road versus trying to look the part at mall parking lots to the uninitiated. Not only that...Semper Fi Devil Dog!

This is an older truss that isn't made any more. For easy at home install recommend the Thuren truss, and for ultimate strength we recommend the Carli truss. The decision depends on your needs and fabrication ability!

This was a big chunk of the inspiration for my truck. Awesome video. Questions 1) I'm looking at swapping to fiberglass fenders and bedsides, what brand did you use and what was your experience with them? 2) I know a lot of guys relocate their batteries for these dual battery setups on the diesels, by chance did you do that with this truck? 1)Fiberglass is ADV installed by Autobahn Collision in Torrance, CA 2) Yes, my batteries are under the bed. 3)I installed the 2G swap myself.

Do you prefer the Timbren bump stops over the Carli air bag setup? I’m currently running the air bags, but I only tow a few times a year. Wondering if removable stops would improve ride quality.

I personally don't like having bags. There is no bag that will hold up to serious thrashing. If you keep it mellow, the Carli bags are a great option. Timbrens ARE NOT bump stops. They are a supplemental load carrying device, just like a bag, and will ride like an inflated bag of you leave them in. Don't leave them in as bump stops.

Whats the tire/wheel combo? Offset ect. Mine has glass also on 20x10’s with 37x13.50 Nitto’s. Looking for a 17 setup that sits like yours.

This is a 17x9 Trail Ready wheel with 4.5" backspace on a 37/13.5/17 Toyo MT tire. We've got links to that wheel in the video description!

What's you offset for the 40s I have the same lift and I have 20 37 and I want to go down to 17 but if I can get 40s underperformed with out rubbing.

We recommend either 4” or 4.5” backspace for 40s.

I know this is an older video, but I’d really like to see how he got a wide stance with this suspension setup. I’m under the impression that the carli unchained suspension that he has doesn’t increase the width of the stance. Any modification to the a arms? Wheel spacers? He has Baja fenders front and rear, but the tires are flush. I’ve only seen people achieve this stance on the gas engines, but never any diesels without heavy modification. Any help would be greatly arppreciated as I’m doing a similar setup with my 04 5.9, but I’m stumped with the front suspension

These trucks have solid axles, so no suspension will widen the stance as that's fixed by the axle width. This truck is running a 3.5" backspace wheel which matches the width of the fiberglass flares perfectly. That's a pretty aggressive wheel spec which is perfect with fiberglas flares.

I have airbags with daystar cups on mine. How is it towing 18K with the softer deavers and squishy 37's and a torsion swaybar? I am contemplating this setup for my mega and my toyhauler is close to 18K fully loaded.

Paul uses Timbren bump stops to add towing capacity when he needs it, then takes them out for better ride and off roading.

I’m running a 51” Donaldson attached to the factory tailpipe, dumped behind the axle. Very simple setup that works. Basically using the factory pieces to interface with the 2nd gen swap down pipe. Any decent exhaust shop can do this.

Yeah if you want 40s on a 2012, you'll need fiberglass. People may say otherwise, but glass is required to really cycle the suspension! Even then, you'll still need to clearance the firewall and inner fender supports to be able to bottom the truck fully.

Only out back and only when towing! They’re a towing bump stop so they ruin the ride quality off and on road when they’re on.

I remove them because they are a supplemental load carrying device, just like an air bag. They act like an inflated air bag (without the bounce) if you leave them in. It takes less than 5 minutes to take them out. Small price to pay for full travel.

They’re a payload/towing supplementation part like airbags, except they’re designed to be easily removable to maintain unloaded ride quality unlike an airbag setup that’s on the truck full time and huts ride quality in daily driving or off road. Here’s a link: www.cjcoffroad.com/Timbren-s/315.htm

These are 17x8.5 Trail Ready wheels with 4.5” backspace. That spec will only work with fiberglass fenders though.

With the way he drives off road, more than that just becomes a liability. The forces through the driveline when you're on the throttle through whoops are pretty intense. Drive shafts etc don't like that kind of shock loading. He can obviously up the tune easily for more, but has it dumbed down on purpose.
