It's CURRICULUM WEEK here on my channel. Every day this week, I will be sharing my curriculum picks for 2021-2022 for each of my kids' grade levels, as well as our family group subjects. TODAY is all about our 3rd grade picks!

Another great pick of curriculum! Would love a flip through of Writing in Rhetoric:) It sounds so great! And I love love love the approach to spelling. Can't wait to see how that works out! Do you have a video that talks about why you're moving away from TT?

I do talk about our reasoning a little more in my 7th grade video coming on Thursday, but I’ll probably do a separate video about that since I have a review video of TT that I did when we were loving in. And there are still parts of it that I love, it just didn’t outweigh our decision to try something different...

Love your choices. We use the same curricula . I always find it fascinating when I come across a mama with nearly the same choices. I have been homeschooling for 10 years too.

We have used Fix it Grammar...it's GREAT! We have also done the Handwriting one too. Great choices ❤ I'm going to check out the Writing in Rhetoric...looks like we homeschool very similarly...a little from here, a little from there 🥰. Thanks for sharing!

I actually used reason for handwriting back when I was in grade school (homeschooled)! It’s such a great curriculum, especially for those who enjoy writing. We started out using Singapore for my second grader and kindergartener, I like it for the kindergarten level but for my second grader and his type of learning style, it moved too fast into harder concepts for him and I also felt like the mastery approach left him forgetting things we had touched on because it didn’t go back and review them again. So we switched to Christian light education and he is thriving. But I love the approach of Singapore and I learned a lot about the mental math like you said and I got all of the manipulatives it suggested and we still use those! What a rich school year your son has ahead!

@@TheEclecticHomeschooler Yes so true, and what works for one child may not work for the other which is something I had to learn. We started our first year with all Abeka, poor kids 😆 (jk!). But it’s been liberating to let go of that part of my brain that wants everything the same and just let each child blossom as they are 🌷

I wish we had a better system for memorizing scripture verses. I'm going to check out that handwriting book--maybe copying them out will help! These curriculum videos are great! 💕

We are in year 2 of homeschooling, first grade we used Math Mammoth and it was like the year of meltdowns and tears, this year we have used Singapore Primary Math 2 and it has gone sooooooo much more smoothly, we just recently hit tough spots for my 2nd grader but it has still been considerably better than Math Mammoth. We will be using the same books your 3rd grader will use next year too.

We still struggle at times too! There’s always going to be rough patches with any curriculum. That’s just the nature of learning harder new concepts. So glad Singapore is working better for you!

Thank you! More videos! My daughter goes to a Christian school and I am on the fence whether I should homeschool or not. I have a BA in Elementary Education, Masters in Curriculum Instruction, and a post Grad in School Psychology I hope I can work part time maybe work 2 days a week and home school my kids the rest of the time!

We love Writing and Rhetoric! My 6th grader did two levels in one year because he wanted to do it every day. We tried the Memoria Press writing but it was too complicated.

Was it necessary for you to read, dictate and be regularly involved with the curriculum as your 6th grader worked through it, or was it more self-led?

I know it is quite expensive, but Brave Writer looks interesting, too.

Yes! Julie Bogart is amazing! We have used Bravewriter before and the Arrow/Boomerang guides are great! I didn’t feel like it was enough as a stand alone language arts curriculum but love the concept and for using as a supplement.

Do you know what translation they use for the scripture writing in the handwriting book?

It says scripture is from The Living Bible from Tyndale.

Hey Erin! These videos are very helpful, as I’ve been overwhelmed with figuring out curriculum for my almost 5 year old and 7 year old. I’m finding that the links to the products in this video are not working. They take me to the Christian book website but to an internal error. Either way, thank you for the description of the products and why you’re excited about them!
