Well done, after watching your series of this build I feel 100% confident that I can tear down my '97 Tbird and rebuild without fear, I'll even do the J-Mod on the tranny. Thank you!!!

I have everything to do this exact built and didn’t think I was going to use the motor but watching your vids is making out it in my Sn this summer. ARP everything in the block and heads and everything. The only thing I don’t have is a turbo and pistons
@nobodyracing3886 жыл бұрын
What I am going to do is get flat top pistons and spray nitrous and I originally had it built for a 300 and over shot and seeing this motor is making me hope to get into the 5s in the 1/8th and in a few years imma change pistons and go turbo... thank you so much for the vids man really love them and is really helping me build my engine

Watched all your assembly videos and decided to either successfully assemble my 2V or make a $10k paperweight. Doing a Teksid, Cobra Crank & Rods, Diamond Mod 2K pistons, TFS Heads, custom cams, Tork Tech Kit with 2.3 TVS, and 8k RPMs. Hopefully I will get a chance to race with you next year.

So I've been looking at how those side bolts on the main caps are tightened, can you shred some light on this? There's an allen and a bolt, but how do you set them properly? A bit late to it.

What’s that called that you put on the crankshaft snout at 3:34 that ables you to turn the crank with a wrench? I cannot find what it’s called at all.
@andrewlavender085 жыл бұрын
Basshead19 I was just using the crank bolt

Great video series Andrew! I'm curious to watch you set up the timing chains. I've got a 4V but I'd think it be pretty similar except for the secondary exhaust chains? Will you degree the cams or do you install straight up? Can't wait to see vids of your dragstrip runs again, car is bad ass! Awesome that you do all your own work and can drive the hell out that 2V! Jim
@andrewlavender086 жыл бұрын
Jim EC thank you. I have never put a 4v together but off limited knowledge it is very similar to timing a 2v. I did degree the cams which I failed to video but if u need any advice or help don’t hesitate to ask.

Can you explain how you time your engine without any of the special tools ..I noticed you had the pistons below deck when you bolted the heads on ..

Why does everyone skip over the thrust bearing ? That’s what I need lol. My bearings came with one thrust bearing for cap 5 and for the block part it has a normal bearing and 1 thrust bearing. Not sure what side it goes on or if both sides need it even. So my set is incomplete or they’re cheap and left it out Bc it’s not 100% necessary

What do you suggest when it comes to building one of these motors? I don't have air tools but I can get some I'd needed. I have some wrenching experience but nothing like starting from a block
@TheWrenchist5 жыл бұрын
I’m doing a very similar build and I’m replacing the block. I noticed you went aluminum and I’m looking to build 25 psi. Any suggestions?

In talking about torquing the rod bolts, you said 'go an additional angle'. Is that 45 degrees, 90 degrees? Not sure what that is
@zachcarlson57785 жыл бұрын
Typically 90 deg i think.. Right lavender?

Is there a rebuild book or manual that you would recommend that has a tool list as well as specs for a complete 4.6 2 valve rebuild for high boost? I have decent mechanical skills but i wanna make sure to do it right....
@andrewlavender085 жыл бұрын
Badazz 99 not specific for a high horse build. I use mostly factory tolerances except for ring gap.

Would i still be able to make the same power with the iron block and a 07 crown vic crank?
@andrewlavender086 жыл бұрын
john john you need to get a crank from a cobra as it is forged and can handle more power than the cast crankshaft. You can make around 700ish hp on the cast crank
@johnjohn-xo5gl6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Lavender thank you for the feed back, i wanna build up my crown vic... looks like i need to ditch my other blocks and upgrade

Andrew Lavender that can be an added expensive some guys may not plan for. Really not a whole lot of extra money in the big picture.

Assuming he's using a book... He may just be that well versed and framilliar. Takes TONS of reading and research... Money and time... I've had my block on the stand for months, lol. Saving up for next parts!
