I had surgery to have my gall bladder removed, but that was back in Sept 13. The pain in your shoulder is actually caused by the gass they put in your stomach. It will go away. Some people get it so don't. I never had that problem. I was in a lot of pain for a days after it was done. I was very sick before the surgery and was put in the hospital for 5 days. Thats three days before surgery and two days after. But my doctor didn't put me on a morphine pump, after I woke up they made me take pills. The best way to to eat is very slowly, and take your time. I didn't want to eat for days after. I ate pudding, jello, and ate some beef both.

I've had laparoscopic surgeries so I remember that shoulder pain is a common side effect. It is caused from the co2 that they use to fill the abdomen getting trapped against the diaphragm. I did a quick search and found this link with a few tips to help relieve the pain. endometriosis.org/resources/articles/post-surgery-ailments/ I hope you feel better soon!!

I know it’s been so many years ago and I don’t know if you will get this but there aren’t many helpful videos like this. I just recently had a splenectomy and am wondering if you remember if you platelets became too high after? If so what did they do and did they come back down on their own??! Thank you so much
@Jlk65324 жыл бұрын
Courtnee I get bloodwork done every 3 months and my platelets are always really high. They never went down, it has been 6 years. None of my specialists seem worried.

@@lexxzus it took me about 3 months to feel somewhat back to myself. I had a rough time afterwards. I had an open splenectomy so they actually cut me from my my breast bone all the way down. I was hospitalized in August with a bowel obstruction they thought was connected to the way I healed after surgery. Ever since the surgery I've had a pain in the middle of my stomach. Next month they're doing a endoscopy and colonoscopy to see that's going on. Hoping for answers. Thank you for asking. Have you had it done as well?!

@@courtneesee1371 Hey sorry to hear that your still going through stuff and still suffering from other issues that's probably related to the surgery. I hope that you eventually fully recover & be able to live a more fulfilled life. But I'm happy you made it through such a horrible medical procedure and still here to talk about. As for myself no, I haven't had that procedure & at the moment not being scheduled for one either. Just was watching videos about it for curiosity and educational purposes. What I'm going through, no doctor yet has been able to diagnose & treat for alittle over a year & a half now.

The eating thing is the worst. It took me 3 weeks to eat comfortably after my hysterectomy. Because they are moving organs around it can make them inflamed and cause a lot of pain. On top of that, all the gas that they put in your belly takes something like a month for it to completely go away. Anytime I would eat I would have to take a gas-ex and massive amount of stool softener to feel SOMEWHAT normal. Also, with the migraines, you might want to switch off the hydrocodone, the migraines could be rebound from the pain killers. An organ was taken out of your body...it is not comparable to a c section AT ALL. And the shoulder pain is from the trapped gas trying to work its way out. I am surprised they did not tell you that...if you can find a way to make your head lower than the rest of you, it might work out that gas faster. Feel better soon!

I'm not sure why he "had no idea" why my shoulders hurt after the surgery when I asked him, it's not like he's some kid, he was the chief of surgery. I was NOT impressed by Seton, if I have another baby or another surgery I will go back to St. Davids. Eating is hard. I am on pretty much all liquids still, with applesauce sometimes. I think he meant, pain and recovery time were similar to the c-section, I'll be telling him how misinformed he is when I have my post op apt this week!

What was the underlying diagnoses for what cause the spleen to enlarge?
@Jlk65327 жыл бұрын
My spleen was not enlarged. My doctor found 5 splenic artery aneurisms all larger than 2cm on a small branch on my splenic artery. This occurred incidentally on a routing scan of my kidney. When they are over 2cm you are at a higher risk of rupture. The surgeon chose to remove the entire spleen because embolizing them all individual was too dangerous and would have likely resulted in lack of blood flow to my spleen anyway, requiring a splenectomy.
@lifewithjenn10397 жыл бұрын
I have to have my spleen out in 2 weeks I'm going for immunizations today. They found a 3.3 inch mass on my spleen and don't know if it's a tumor or a rupture that clotted off. I'm very scared of the surgery and I have also been told my spleen is enlarged. Your videos are at least helping to calm me down. Hope your doing well!
@lexi6626 жыл бұрын
I know one of them is monoculosis, “the kissing disease”. I got it from someone touching my clarinet, and the doctor said to not do anything to strain it, because the spleen is larger but thinner and more prone to rupture.

Did the surgery hurt, the recovery, or does it hurt two years later? The surgery and recovery was very painful. The first 10 days after were very difficult. The first year after the surgery I got sick ALL THE TIME, now I only get sick every so often, when I do get sick It takes me much longer to get over a bacterial infection or virus.
