@Ma Rk most people delete the default cube then add a sphere, plane or cylinder, etc. But a true master knows that the default cube is all you need. sphere, just hit it with the subdivision modifier a few times. Cylinder, hit it with bevel and adjust to suit your needs. plane, just scale it down in z.

You should have creased the seams on the balloon, it looks much better. Well you could have done that on some other stuff too. It's not realistic when everything is smooth. (And by creasing I mean selecting the edges and hit shift-e, 1. Subdivision modifier will keep these edges sharp.)

Super! Thanks. Just to clarify, if the object is unwrapped before the simulation it will retain it's texture positioning? Will it cause strange warping and stretching of the texture? Will you have to redraw the seams and unwrap it again?

Cloth sim doesn't change UVs or seams, so, yes, it will stretch and compress the textures realistically

Can't think of anything. Just bringing the verts closer togerher along the z axis. If scaling doesnt work you can always move the top ones down and the bottom ones up...

I'm following along, but I have several differences in my Blender 2.81a from yours. For example, when I select the cube-pillow and click on "Cloth", the cube disappears. It comes back when I click on the monitor icon to the right of "Cloth" to un-highlight it. But yours is on and the cube is visible. Why is it different? When I click on Cloth to open up the drop-down menu I do not have the same list as you. You have "Internal Springs" and "Pressure", but I do not. Would you happen to know why these issues are occurring? I'd appreciate your assistance. Thanks.
@chrisprenn

You need Blender 2.82 or later!
@richNfit4life
@richNfit4life 4 жыл бұрын
@@chrisprenn - Okay, thanks for that. I did install 2.82 and followed along as before. When I selected the cube-pillow and clicked on "Cloth", the cube disappeared. And when I click on the monitor icon next to "Cloth" it reappears. This does not happen in your video. Why does the cube disappear when I attach the Cloth function to it? Something is certainly not right.
@chrisprenn
@chrisprenn 4 жыл бұрын
Are you on frame 1? Sounds like you are on a later frame in the timeline and gravity made the cube fall down...
@richNfit4life
@richNfit4life 4 жыл бұрын
@@chrisprenn - I was just looking at it all trying to figure it out and what I found was that the cube didn't disappear, it relocated way down on the z-axis. I tried to move it up with G and Z, but it would not move. What did work to move the cube back up was G, then clicking just above the plane rather than dragging it up. Not the usual way G works. Next, I tried to remove Cloth from the cube and once I did that, it moved again, but this time way up on the z-axis. With your feedback, I think I know now why this occurred. Some weeks ago, I applied something called SuperChargedBlender from FlippedNormals here on KZfaq. One of the reconfigurations it applied was to start the timeline at 1001 and end at 1250. I guess I'll need to remove this and go back to the default settings. I don't know enough about Blender to see what happened. Let me know your insights about this. Thank you.
