I wish we had time to organise one. This was very spur of the moment. We didn't have time to set up 2 amps...they're playing through the same amp via an A/B box as splitter, hence the not so great tone.

Tom Quayle fusion style licks it's amazing. His Hybrid and Legato absolutely amazing. Sammy really good at rock style lick. They both amazing in their style.

For the record, Sammy said to me several times over the next few days after this that he had never been up close and seen someone who could play like that before. Amazing players, both just outstanding. Both had great touches and the differences were fun. Man Sammy is as fluent as Beck on that whammy bar, and Tom's hybrid/finger picking was outstanding. So much fun to watch.

Both guitar players are awesome... And are amazing with their own playing styles... Tom Quayle has a much more fluid and buttery fusion style of soloing while Sammy Boller has that traditional glam rock, Eddie Van, Paul gilbert, Bucket Head to some neo classical style of soloing inspired by J. Malmsteen... Both are gods in their own right... ✌👍🤘

I like how they both look at each other's playing like "whoa man!" In all seriousness, both guys have exceptional control over their respective right hands. Either it be Tom's hybrid picking, or Sammy's tapping, both of these guys make use of their extended technique repertoire to further their unique harmonic and melodic voices. This is what being a virtuoso is all about. Thank you for posting this.

This is not a battle, this is a way how musicians appreciate each others. This is first time I saw Tom getting serious on his speed, while Sammy shows shred and playing more musical. What an epic show! We learn many things from it...

Absolutely amazing to watch two great guitar players. I know it's not really meant to be a serious battle result but from the techniques and harmony level TQ obviously had a proper education and does everything "academically" whereas Sammy is more like a self-taught genius rock&roll player. I honestly admire both!

Great Playing by both. Tom has really his own style, while Sammy holds against with "Best of Gilbert, Yngwie and Vai" but this works :) :)

Just my opinion, Tom sounded like he was improvising the other guy was playing things he already worked out. Oh, I wish the other guy didn’t do the whammy bar thing before and after everything you played. But besides that this is kind of cool.

Listen to the Abasi video a lot of Toms runs here and on that video are overlapped not knocking the guy you can only put out so much content without overlapping occasionally. Preferred the other gent because he came off more musical/melodic but personal preference I guess.

Os 2 são top players guitarristas. Um no estilo clássico do Rock e outro no estilo mais contemporâneo do Fusion. Minha opinião, curto mais o estilo do TQ, por conta de sua técnica sofisticada e refinada.
