I’ve been doing IF for almost a year now. I usually do OMAD and then I randomly do longer fasts, however, I have never experienced this “I feel amazing!!” aspect to any of it. I drink plenty of water and have my electrolytes supplements ti get through it, but it’s down right miserable all the way around. I’ve never experienced the “mental clarity” others talk about. In fact, I often get brain fog, feel super weak, and by day 3 I feel like I’ll pass out. BS is normally in the 60s/70s at that point. I’ll even add in some fat, like butter, to extend it as long as possible, but I’m not going to lie… the fasting is absolutely hell for me. I’ve lost about 100 pounds since April of 23, so the diet is working. I’m zero carb carnivore the last few months. Before that I was keto, low carb (30g or less a day). Everyone is different - but let’s be honest …fasting just isn’t “awesome” for some people.

I've been keto since 2019 and am transitioning to Carnivore this year, but to prepare for Italy I'm ketovore so that my body won't be completely shocked. This video is reminding me to enjoy a 48 hour fast after I get back and then I'll launch into full fledged no-cheating carnivore, most likely for life. I love your videos; so helpful to prepare my mind for this way of life.

I love doing fasts. It's where my health journey started. I prefer doing 72s. Such a great feeling for the body. My advice to anyone that struggles with fasting is to do them when you have the least amount of stress possible. Try to avoid high pressure work conditions, when you have commitments and deadlines. Take some time away and focus on yourself during a fast. Get plenty of sun, go walk, enjoy what you are doing. You've got nothing but time on your hands during a fast. No food prep, no shopping, no cooking, no cleaning up. And you will see fantastic results.

I’m post menopausal and I don’t lose weight from fasting. My body thinks it’s starving and I never lose. I think it would have helped me when I was younger, though. I have found eating carnivore, I only need 2 small meals a day. I eat 1 boiled egg and 3 sardines almost every morning. Then steak in the afternoon. I’ve been stalled for 2 months and tried eating more and less. Adding fat and taking it away lol. Now, I’m just eating my 2 meals and I feel good. I’ve lost 32# and I guess that’s all my body is going to give up for now. 😂❤❤

To the OP, one of the biggest issues with losing weight on carnivore is under-eating. Because you lose a lot of the carb cravings when you remove them from your diet, you may feel full before you’ve had enough to even support your BMI, let along regular activity. I’m 56 and I weight 140. I’m 5’4” and I carry a lot of muscle. I don’t want to lose any of it, because I’ve worked hard to build it. I have to eat no less than 1500 calories a day, and I try to get more like 1800 or my body tries to hang onto extra weight because it feels like it’s being threatened with famine. As long as I eat enough normally, I can fast occasionally with zero issues. What you’re describing sounds like way too low in calories, unless you’re eating a really big steak every day.

Hi Laura! I'm a carnivore. Your videos and content are the most helpful for me. Thank you! I think I'm similar to you in that I want to eat all the time. Calorie restriction, fat restriction, portion restriction, exercise doesn't work for me to lose weight. My body just wants to hold on to everything and stay at the same weight. I keep coming back to remembering that fasting is the thing that works best. I don't think I have any willpower so I don't do it when there's cooking around or my son is around. I can't thank you enough for sharing your experience and inspiration. Otherwise, I'm at a loss and it's so frustrating.

I've struggled with calorie restriction and eating healthy and will keep trying to improve on that. Fasting does allow me to see results quickly and provides encouragement to keep trying to live healthier because I can see something tangible. That is my best argument for fasting when people try to tell me fasting is not good for you and some other eating strategy is better. Fasting all the time might not be sustainable for me, but I find it to be a good reset button, especially if I've gotten off track more than what I wanted.

And I thought back to what I ate last night I had shrimp with for the first time since I started the carnivore diet and on it, it had the olive oil with oregano and truffle in it. I do clean fasts drinking sparkling water, electrolytes, 2 to 3 unflavoured decaffeinated or caffeinated black coffees without additives to suppress the hunger hormone Grhelin when it starts growling or when I get cravings especially after 48 hours. Sometimes I also put some sea salt into the black coffee to get through.

I think it's amazing to see this whole approach to carnivore done in a disciplined, but also relaxing fashion. There are some that have become so obsessive with sourcing of the food, tracking macros/micros/everything to the point that it's almost cult-like. This is a way to have food basically become a non-thought in your life, while also vastly improving one's health.

I fast 20-24 hours each day as my comfort zone but I never skip the offer of real food outside of my window such as a family birthday breakfast for example.. but I do decline sweets and birthday cake in the office and nobody usually minds if I only accept it to take home for dessert. But- when I go on holiday, have a weekend away, or during the holidays I often find I’ll have 2 or even 3 meals through the day and always re-kickstart my usual routine with a 2 day fast. It probably amounts to a 2 day fast once a month or every 6 weeks

I like the 48 hr fasts as well, I usually go from dinner to dinner. Anyway, it helps me with my blood pressure and my glucose. My weight usually comes back in about 3-4 days. I like the idea of using fasting to really figure out what true hunger feels like and not just "head" hunger. In fact I have been thinking about a 48 to do just that. I have a real difficult time telling when I am really truly hungry. I never thought of it as a way to understand hunger signals. So this will be a learning experience for me this time. Real good video thanks.

Being a life of T1D, I'm unable to fast for that long... I've attempted and have even added more fat to achieve fasting to this level. Still working on it...

Literally doing this to give my gut a reset. When I was pregnant I had severe nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps and I thought it was just pregnancy symptoms on top of what I was eating, now that Im not pregnant , 4 months later im still having those symptoms. Im hoping that this 48 hr fast can be of great benefit to me😓

Is the LMNT flavored? I’d be afraid to use it that it would break my fast.

U made 48 seem doable. I really need some 36 or 48’s. Been putting off because I didn’t want to feel hunger pains. It probably won’t b that bad.

When did you start fasting in your Carnivore experience? I know it’s been 5 years but in the beginning.

Question, when you fast do you only use the non flavored LMNT pack since it has no stevia in it. Or do you use the flavored ones as well? I find the unflavored gross tasting. And I’m wondering if it’s still considered fasting if there is the added stevia in the drink. Not sure if it spikes the glucose?

You dont mention coffee. What if I need my coffee? I hate it black. Do you think there are some things I can add just to coffee? Stevia? Butter? MCT oil? HWC? Thanks for your input. Your videos are so inspiring. Thanks.

Hi FYI I started breaking my fast with a small kale blueberry beet smoothie 12oz after my 48hr and 72hr fast and NO bathroom issues! It has to do with the fiber. Try it😊

Fasting is actually not a problem for me when I'm home because im so busy. My problem is, I sit at a desk Monday thru Thursday and even though I'm busy, I still just want to eat. I'm gonna try to up my electrolytes and see how that works.
