When I got to Beyond, I was initially scared about the extra complexity but I found it surprisingly straightforward. It felt like the level designer himself was having a tough time fully exploiting the extra dimension. The developer said on Steam forum that there is no level editor for Beyond levels, you literally have to edit text files.

I think it's cause the developer thankfully barely used the 3d-up aspect (at least uh, in non-challenges, haven't seen challenges yet) and also the actual pain of seeing a tunnel that might be hidden in 4d/5d lol so it's intentionally easy

10:00 You cant land on it cause it's a slope. Jus because its flat it doesnt mean it's not a slope in 4d. You could land on it later on because you changed gravity in a way the slope became flat in 4d (in accordance to gravity)

Marble mode seems like a great setting for speed running. We've sped run 2d platforms, 3d worlds, twisting race tracks. Now, we can run through 4d golf

So you are rotating a 5D object so that it has a 4D "shadow" which you rotate differently, to use a 3D "shadow" of to play on a semi flat, semi 2D plane of golf. So what you see is like a projection of a projection of another projection. Soon some madman will create a game with both extra spatial and temporal dimensions to play something like beer pong.

I belive the easy way to find the bridge was: 1) in volume view allign ball with center line of bridge projection (the centre of the "tunnel") 2) rotate so that bridge comes into view

Honestly, I agree with the start of the video. This game would greatly benefit from having a way to snap your "4D viewing angle" into alignment with the closest cardinal direction, like how you start each level perfectly aligned to Kenth. Being able to immediately snap into perfect alignment with North, or West, etc. would be huge.

Yeah, that would be a huge thing to add, considering how easy it is to get way out of alignment, especially for levels like Spirit Bridge or the final ramp on 5D Chess.

No. No. You don't want golf with 2 time dimensions. Do you really want to deal with paradox induced event lines and time rifts created by infinite temporal trajectories? Do you really want to be putting twice or in a six dimensional vector? Do you want golf where you can softlock yourself with time rifts and have to undo? Probably not.

Fun fact, you can (somewhat) visualise up or down by one dimension, so for us 3D beings, we can visualise 2D and 4D somewhat because we can have 3D projections of 4D objects, and we can see 2D objects as 2D projections of 3D objects (I know it's confusing, stick with me) but, it is, either extremely difficult or outright impossible to visualise up or down by two or more dimensions, because that would require, for example, a 4D projection of a 5D object, but we can't visualise 4D projections so it is impossible for us to visualise 5D, the same with 1D, we can't visualise 2D projections, so no 1D, the closest we can get is a 3D projection of a 4D projection of a 5D object, which makes so little sense to our brain that it hurts to think about.

Hilariously, the layout of 5D chess isn't even 5D! If you make a single 90° whirl rotation, you can see the entire level without any 5D projections!

Think of volume view as your normal view and only use the view with up and down as either a way to control error or understand slopes. Volume view is much easier to see the shape of the course with as you can always get the hole and ball in view unless you are in 5D, and even in 5D it is more consistent.

technically there is one, using the temporal axis instead of the spatial one. AKA hopping back and forth through time. One very neat mechanic is an object left in the past will stay in the future, but not vice versa.
