Yeah I have a 986, I love it, I have had it for 12 years. Would never consider getting rid of it. It's so much fun driving. It handles fantastic 😊.

Hi Mike I love hearing stories like that, which engine and gearbox do you have? I’m saving for the 987 2.7 manual with the 5 speed box, can’t wait and hopefully have it this year at some point, as long as the house doesn’t need anything else doing to it. I’m not sure if you have seen my other video on all the generations of boxster, so I will add the link below. Thanks again for commenting, there will be plenty of boxster videos coming in 2024. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZdgp8uImMWun58.htmlsi=bZ9rY2g8JNkzMVzn

Thanks I really enjoyed making this video. If it wasn’t for the GoPro not filming there would have been a longer driving review. Anyway problem now solved as a new action camera has been purchased. I’m hoping to have one of these in my garage this year, so there will be plenty of footage coming, it’s such an excellent roadster. Thanks again for watching.

Great video....and thanks for showing my car right near the end. 🙂 Ed's car looks in far better shape than mine. I have the same philosophy - I bought it because of how it drives, not for what it looks like. I hope he/you took it around a few bends, roundabouts, etc. My favourite things about the car is how it steers and handles around the corners, it's a real joy to drive.

Thanks Spencer appreciate the comment and I was blown away with how his car drives and goes around corners, the ride is sublime.

I am in the States and we have had our 987.1 since new. We special ordered it in June ‘06 equipped exactly as we wanted it. Base Boxster w/full leather, hardtop, 5 speed, PCM, Sycamore wood on steering wheel, shifter, and dash. A few other goodies and now has almost 29k miles as it’s obviously a garage queen only driven on weekends for about 6-8 months a year. It’s as close to perfect inside and out as new and even improved in some areas. It’s a blast to drive and now that we live in the mountains and retired, those miles should climb. Keep looking, there are some great examples of the vintage occasionally.

Hi Ronald love the story and history you have with your boxster. Have you had any major issues over the years or just typical wear and tear items. I wonder how many owners like you still have their boxster since new. Thanks for commenting and you might like to check out my other video where I compare each generation of Porsche boxster. Stay tuned for for Boxster content this year. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZdgp8uImMWun58.htmlsi=7ug6feuKj1obAzFo

Looking at buying a 2.7 myself for around 3-4K as a bit of a project, what should specifically look out for when buying? There is a couple on Facebook market place that look alright just want to make sure I’m buying the right car
@thedrivebygg3 ай бұрын
Hi Lucas good question. I’m told to make sure you buy one with full service history, number of owners isn’t a concern for a car of this age. If it’s got high mileage I would expect you to have problems with bore score or ims bearing, but if you can find one that’s had this work complete or at least checked that’s a bonus.

Be careful with the 3.4 engine as they not as bulletproof as the smaller 2.7 engine without mentioning the B word or the I word that may be lurking around, you must follow due diligence on the bigger engine or keep £10k slush funds.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this time next year I will be the happy owner of a 987 2.7 5 speed manual. It would be my first convertible and I can’t wait to drive through the countryside with the roof down, listening to the engine noise and smells. I will certainly be sharing the experience on KZfaq and trying to make the videos more engaging with better camera angles etc. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I have a 987.1 2006 and my tax is £695? Any ideas how this example £300?

@@mhjl0 is yours a 3.2 or 3.4
@vincentlong87737 ай бұрын
Mine is a 06 plate 2.7l 5 speed manual - £340 for mine. Something is not right there - the 3.4 or an auto is normally subject to the higher tax. I know this because I nearly bought a 3.4, and balked at the tax difference for the performance gain. I'm also VERY glad I left the 3.4 alone because of the dreaded bore score issues (pretty much guaranteed to happen at some point) - hence the "keep a 10k slush fund" by MrRoyck10. I hope Graham's mate stays clear of the 3.4, unless its had the Hartech engine rebuild - which if it has will be significantly far more expensive than a 3.4 that has not.
