Love these. Kind of like pimple popping videos but I'm not ashamed afterwards. I've learned a lot about sand driving too. Let me see: get a really heavy car and load it as much as you can - probably should get gvm upgrade so you can really max out; make sure most of your load is over the back axle; fang it 'cause everyone know that makes you go faster (chipped motor definitely); plenty of opposite lock 'cause pushing sand with your sidewall is way more effective than rolling over it; and by all means get lots of advice on tyre pressures independent of actual weight (and distribution) or tyre size.

As a marketing tool, Qld national parks could include a sticker, with their park permit. The sticker could list the permit holders preferred tyre pressure for sand driving, 50-40 PSI, 39 -30, 29-20, then they could have sub increments. 19 - 15 PSI, 14 -10, 9-5. Then they could monitor those who got stuck, and tore up the tracks, and offer incentives to the who treated the island tracks with respect.

The rule of thumb is, Mud tires and all terrain with D rating should be deflate between 10 -15 psi do to stiff side wall. All terrain tires with C or D rating 13-18 pis is good. ALL P tires ie. P265/60R17 should be between 15 to 20 psi. Not all tire made equally even though they have the same specifications so you have to learn your tire and best air pressure that suit your tire.

Unless you have a really powerful motor and relatively low gearing normally high range is a no go outside of the compact sand on the beaches. You can get away with high 1st for a lot of it with decent power and low tyre pressures but I was in low 2nd or 3rd most of the time there with a little bit of low 1st. My motor was knackered at the time though, never got stuck however.
@gqwarrior66942 жыл бұрын
Because low range is better for 90% of soft sand driving. You don't work the engine, clutch & transmission as hard + you have the torque required if it starts to get properly tough. High range on sand is for amateurs that like to make things harder on themselves & thier vehicle than it needs to be.
