Love these. Kind of like pimple popping videos but I'm not ashamed afterwards. I've learned a lot about sand driving too. Let me see: get a really heavy car and load it as much as you can - probably should get gvm upgrade so you can really max out; make sure most of your load is over the back axle; fang it 'cause everyone know that makes you go faster (chipped motor definitely); plenty of opposite lock 'cause pushing sand with your sidewall is way more effective than rolling over it; and by all means get lots of advice on tyre pressures independent of actual weight (and distribution) or tyre size.

As a marketing tool, Qld national parks could include a sticker, with their park permit. The sticker could list the permit holders preferred tyre pressure for sand driving, 50-40 PSI, 39 -30, 29-20, then they could have sub increments. 19 - 15 PSI, 14 -10, 9-5. Then they could monitor those who got stuck, and tore up the tracks, and offer incentives to the who treated the island tracks with respect.

@@aussieas6655 Dead Wrong, the larger the footprint the less PSI the vehicle exerts on the sand hence it will stay on top longer. Deflating works the same way as it increases surface area. Pure physics. Its the city boys with zero experience and bacon slicers that thrash the trails.

@@bossmonkey1126 You're telling me the bigger the vehicle the less pressure on the sand? Do you smoke meth? Surface area is key it does not matter how much you weigh. Besides that my point was not how to drive in the sand it was about big tyre heroes that still can't drive destroying the tracks.
@bossmonkey1126
@bossmonkey1126 Жыл бұрын
@@aussieas6655 You mentioned the meth??? read my reply. Where do you read anything about a BIGGER VEHICLE. ?? Just for you, footprint refers to the area or contact patch, that would be the part of the tire that is in direct contact with the ground. You say " it does not matter how much you weigh ?? It absolutely matters ,[again physics] It's a DIRECT correlation between weight and surface area. The rule of thumb is, Mud tires and all terrain with D rating should be deflate between 10 -15 psi do to stiff side wall. All terrain tires with C or D rating 13-18 pis is good. ALL P tires ie. P265/60R17 should be between 15 to 20 psi. Not all tire made equally even though they have the same specifications so you have to learn your tire and best air pressure that suit your tire.

Unless you have a really powerful motor and relatively low gearing normally high range is a no go outside of the compact sand on the beaches. You can get away with high 1st for a lot of it with decent power and low tyre pressures but I was in low 2nd or 3rd most of the time there with a little bit of low 1st. My motor was knackered at the time though, never got stuck however.
@gqwarrior6694
@gqwarrior6694 2 жыл бұрын
Because low range is better for 90% of soft sand driving. You don't work the engine, clutch & transmission as hard + you have the torque required if it starts to get properly tough. High range on sand is for amateurs that like to make things harder on themselves & thier vehicle than it needs to be.

The tires are filled with air. There is no doubt that the tire pressure ranges between 30 PSI and 40. If you want to drive your four-wheel drive car on sand, you must make the tire pressure from 20 to 10. You can easily pass in this place without the need to operate heavy four-wheel drive.

Desert man here. This is why I keep 33X12.50 Toyo M/Ts on my tuned 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. Traction and power is needed in that soft sand. I just float over it.

@@poppyoldboymill5909 I was stating the vehicle because it's a quad cab, it's over 6k lbs. Just floats, and it if the sand gets too mucky, V8 pulls on 2nd gear just churns out the torque. FOX shocks and MOOG components soak up all the blows and catch all the air. Too. Much. Fun.

The easiest and best way in the sand is to make the (tire pressure PSi) 15PSI, and the car will run easily and without damage to the engine and gearbox, in the long run.
