Thanks for a really good comparison. I have not regretted buying my PMR30, I’ve got it down to where the reliability is outstanding. I picked up a Henry rifle in 22 WMR which I really enjoy shooting, too. I shoot 40 gr. CCI and Fioccchi ammo in both. If, for some reason, 5.7 ammo ever comes down in price to a comparable price level to 22 WMR, I may pick up the Ruger.

You’re welcome and thanks for sharing. I’ve got a video on my channel of me shooting a Henry 22mag. I like it a lot as well. Some places have 57 ammo cheaper than others. Still pricey for factory 57, I started reloading my own 2 years ago with great success. I’ve got videos of that on my channel as well. Thanks for stopping by and watching.

Noone in their right mind would say the rimfire 22 mag. Is better than the center fire 5.7. The problem is ammo availability!! I can buy 22 mag. Ammo at most shops in my area and 5.7 is harder to find than a heart transplant.the ballistics are not that far apart compared to availability. I would not want to be shot with either, but for now I'll stick with my pmr 30.

Yeah, to each their own.I’m seeing a lot of ammo for both locally here in Eastern NC. Most places have 5.7 and not 22mag because they can’t sell the 5.7 due to their outrageous mark up. I reload for the 5.7 and doing so for the 22 isn’t economical or time friendly, nor is it 100% success. I’ve been very successfully reloading the 5.7 for over a year now. My bet is that if the .22 mag had hit mid jug like the 5.7 then both would have stopped in the 3rd jug. Just my opinion.

It’s obvious the 5.7 has more umph, but it looks like the 22 WMR is not too shabby. The 22 WMR Gold Dot is not a bad defensive round if that’s all you had. Good test design-straight forward and easy to follow.
@JBJHonez
@JBJHonez 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I’m liking the 5.7 just because I can currently reload for it cheaper than buying 22mag at the moment. Both are pretty good. The PMR30 is pretty good as long as no more than 25 are loaded. Thanks for stopping by and watching

Thanks for the information and entertainment. I've been looking into the .22wmr vs 5.7x28 because Ruger just came out with the carbine and Kel-tek presently doesn't have a 5.7x28 platform that I know of, but the pmr and cmr look like a possible option. Right now I'm still undecided because both the Kel-tek and Ruger have issues with reliability with their magazines. Hopefully 5.7x28 gets cheaper sooner than later. I'm leaning towards. 22wmr, though, only because there are also revolvers available and I like the idea of having a small round my wife and kids can have that is compatible with a magazine fed platform. Anyway, thanks again. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

I guess it comes down to personal taste and intended use. I enjoy shooting both and my reloads for the 5.7 were cheaper than 22mag at the time of the video. I was getting 5.7 brass from 3-6 cents each and the projectiles, for plinking, I used were around 6-7 cents each when I bought in bulk. Most 22mag ammo I was seeing at the time was 30+ cents each. The 5.7 is the better round (ignoring retail cost of course). The Pmr30 could probably do better with the longer threaded barrel that they offered for a while, along with the CCI 40grn fmj ammo that's available.

Heck, in the 55 years I've been wandering this speck of dust I've never heard anyone mention reloading a rimfire; is that a thing??? I bought my brother some of the Gold Dot WMR and he likes it quite a bit for varmint use in the NC mountains. I've actually never fired 22WMR. I picked up a PSA Rock in 5.7 and a few hundred rounds of FN and American Eagle ammo. Fun thing, but $$$. I can shoot 10mm for less. Hell, 308 is only a few pennies more with FMJ. But my 9s don't carry 24 in the mag and recoil is dramatically different. Nice video. Maybe get a pocket tackle box (or daily meds pill box) to keep your fired rounds straight? Just a thought.

Yeah, rimfire can be reloaded. Just time consuming and tedious as all can be. How do you like the PSA 5.7? I’ve debated snagging one just to try. Most of my target 5.7 ammo reloads actually cost less than 22WMR at the time of me loading them. It’s very tedious as well and I’m so glad I’m done loading them. I’ve got a few other vids on my channel of my trying some out and testing a few builds. Thanks for stopping by, watching and the comment. Feel free to sub if you haven’t already

For factory ammo, heck yeah. not easily or beneficial to reload 22lr. I’ve been reloading 5.7x28 for almost 2 years and my plinking ammo for the 5.7 is well under 30 cents per round while factory ammo for the 22LR, 22wmr and 9mm are a good bit more than that as of now. 22wmr is over 40 cents a round locally and even more online. My reloads are way cheaper than factory ammo and most of the times better because they're for my specific gun. I’ve even got some 5.7 hollow point and soft point type ammo that is still cheaper than factory and just as good. Same goes for all the calibers I shoot.
