Adding a third ridge line above the double on the square arch set-up, would probably work to shed rain. Love the last one, too. Thank you.

I like the star config. I found your video on it about a year ago, I think. I was impressed with how much room it had, and how quick it was to put up. By the time I got around to trying it for myself, I lost the video. Now I'm back on track, thanks I'm glad you re-did it.

Well done. I use a modification of the Forestor called the Beaked Forestor where the peak is moved closer to the front corner. It doesn't close all the like the classic version, but still offers ample protection. I only close off my tarps in horrible, blowing weather or when the skeeters are especially bad [if I don't have a bug net]. The square arch is new to me. And here I thought I knew them all.

Just a quick thought you can put a peak it by utilizing the top row of tie outs with a 3 guideline or you can get a stick long enough to spend the Gap and Arch it over and it will hold it like a tent pole

I'm a new convert to tarps, and I'm thinking, why do people still haul around tents? I'm lazy when it comes to tents, but seriously, tarps are so versatile! Well, I'll see you in Daniel Boone National Forest next month 👍🇩🇰🇺🇸
@rondave725 жыл бұрын
That was a great video. I found myself wondering why I bought a tent and may just set it aside in favor of the tarp and a mosquito net. I liked that it was a quick overview and that if I did need more information there was another video I could watch. Sometimes I don’t want to be burdened with a detailed explanation. The setups are pretty simple. But if I did, then having another video to go to is a solid compliment to this video. Trekking poles came up a couple of times. Do you actually use them for hiking or are they just substitute tent poles? I ask because I am wondering about the price/quality of poles I would need to add to my kit.
@UglyTent5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the comment. But I like my tents too, I like all types of camping experiences. I love my trekking poles and use them a lot! Sometimes just carry one, and the ones I got were the cheapies at your local box store.

Bein' a lazy sort, I especially like that Star. I'd used lean-to types modded to location. My 4-footed bud, really' liked them when that screech owl scared him during the night. Kinda worried me a bit when he came scrambling in.

Not neccessarily, for example the star can be done with a rectangular tarp, with the entrance door being where the longer side is...at least I reckon it should be doable. Going to try this with my British Army shelter sheet (basha).
