UglyTent Bushcraft & Survival

Күн бұрын

In this episode I set up a Whelen Lean-To configuration with my Free Soldier 10x9 tarp. I enjoy a steak, Sassafras tea, do a little bushcraft and an overnighter in this shelter. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy.

Kenny, carry four or five wooden clothesline pins and pin the bug net along the edge of the tarp. I know that they can be fashioned in the field, but for the weight and speed of attaching to the shelter, I think is worth it. I have used them when I needed to throw up a tarp in the rain to attach a lean to to a ridge line in a hurry.

Whats up Brother? I have to admit, I am ALWAYS impressed by someone solo camping. What I don't understand because of my noviceness, is the bug net. Hello friend. The bug net has the grommets in the middle, so it comes down on both sides. It's like a mini tent inside your tent. At 20:21 and 21:14 you can see the the net goes down to the back inside. Hope this helped.

Such a cool little piece! All around, just a really cool vid. Thanks!! P.S. Heard some yelling and weird sounds in the background while you were hanging the bug net. What the heck was that?! I saw that it got your attention also, for a second or two. Hahaha!! What's the weirdest/creepyest experience you've ever had out there by yourself? Just curious. Hope me asking that doesnt upset you!! That was one big spider!! Dammm!! 😲 Peace 😊

Thanks Missy! Yes piece of mind is a very important part of survival or just comfort. The yelling was a couple of young men with their dog a couple of hollers over. It’s very hard to truly get away from people in some of my parts of the woods. I was only about a mile back in the wilderness. I heard and owl and something (maybe a rabbit) fighting recently in the middle of the night. They were making sounds crazy sounds. Thanks for the comment!

Finally, have any idea of the total weight of all your carry in equipment? Thanks again.

Thank you Amy, I glad you enjoyed it. The tarp was a Free Soldier brand tarp. I’ve done video reviews on it and a OneTigris about the same size. I want to collect some really good quality gear and I see you use this a lot, will this tarp see me right you think? I like the look of it better than DD also DD has zero UV protection where as the free soldier tarp does disperse some ultra violet.
