Thanks. Yeah it really is a housing crisis. There’s an increasing amount of people living in tents or in their cars, even in our major cities. The divide between rich and poor continues to grow.

What a beautiful little island. A mate and I camped on Rabbit Is north of Mackay and during the early evening had lots of wines while we worked on the maths of how far out to moor the boat, the tidal range was 7m. Not a shallow beach like in this vid. The next morning we were happily surprised to find we only had to drag the boat a few metres to the water. So I get your dilemma. I always tie a boat to the shore somehow rather than rely on anchors alone. On that Back to Basics KZfaq channel the dude let the boat drift a couple of km off shore and then swam after it as they had no epirb, no water, no shelter and no back up plan. Luckily he made it eventually to the boat after the anchor dragged on a shallow bit.

Stumbled across your channel, Epirb and all that. You obviously have a lot of survival training and skills. Solo trips can land you up shit creek without a paddle whiteout warning. How do you deal with the threat of irunkandji jelly fish et al? Enjoy your little tips and advice! Keep on going. I subscribed!
@OutbackMike
@OutbackMike 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re right. Solo trips are more dangerous. The risk of irukandji isn’t that high but I have vinegar ready to go and a satellite messenger I can call for help with if I start getting severe symptoms.

@@aussiestrong7853 pretty sure it’s the bunker group, be very careful in a small tinnie. I have a 6.2 meter and have been caught out there and it’s very scary, it gets rough real rough. High above you and a high below you 10 knots and around a meter swell and all’s good
@chats5957
@chats5957 6 ай бұрын
@@aussiestrong7853did you watch the end of the video? His trailer was already on the Curtis ferries barge that was picking him up. He went out to mast head island on the barge with another group then drove the tinny back 6 miles to get the shot with the island in the background. Don't believe everything you see on KZfaq. Taking a 4.2m dory out there is stupidity, no matter how good the forecast looks.

they had a spare trailer on the barge?
@chats5957
@chats5957 6 ай бұрын
No, it was his trailer. You put your boat and trailer on the barge in Gladstone and they drop you off at any island in the bunker group, then they store your trailer back at their compound and bring it back to the island for your pickup.

@WogChilli
@WogChilli 3 жыл бұрын
Good choice on taking more than you used. Running out that far would have been aweful. I would take EPIRB and VHF myself. Good video mate I enjoyed watching.
@chats5957
@chats5957 6 ай бұрын
@@WogChilliif he went out with 140l and only had 40l when getting picked up, that's nowhere near enough for the return trip. Luckily he caught the barge back, and even luckier that they had his boat trailer on it already. Even luckier that the barge was returning from the outer islands (other empty trailers), so would have been at sea for 12+ hours and they had the foresight to find his car and detach the trailer and load it into the barge before the school group offered to allow him on their chartered barge.
