It's the 5 of our beginner yoga series!! How is it already the last day?? I'm so super proud of you for making it through this whole plan, and I hope you will enjoy today's class, in which I will guide you through some of my favourite hip opening poses. Stretching into the hips is an amazing way to release tension, not just from the body, but also from the mind. We tend to store a lot of emotional tension in the hips, as the hip flexor muscle immediately contracts whenever we're stressed. I invite you to fully surrender into each and every pose and breathe through any sensation and discomfort you can feel.
As always I want to remind you to make sure that you never ever EVER feel any pain while practicing yoga. If you do feel pain, I want you to stop whatever you're doing and come out of the pose or take a step back. It is okay to feel discomfort. Feeling discomfort is actually great, it means that the body and the mind are being challenged, and that change is being initiated. However, make sure to differentiate between the feeling of pain, and the sensation of discomfort, at any given time.
