One tip I would add is if u take a cardigan or wear glasses leave them in ur cubicle before u head out for break after each block. That saves the hassle for checking glasses n cardigan every time.best of luck everyone!🙂

Congrats on taking Step 1, I wish you all the best for the Step 1 score! I have a request, can you please share your NBME/UWSA scores and dates when you took them. I am gonna be taking Step 1 in upcoming months and I want to know the predictability of the newer NBMES and UWSA 1 and 2. Thanks and God bless!

Hey your video is helpful, thank you for this. I want to ask you a question - what things did you write ( other than bio stats and pharmac equation ) on that laminated paper they give us at examination centre

Hi Sarang , I am medical graduate here from Malaysia and just recently found out about you channel. Really love your channel as you provide great info abt USMLE. I have a question that would love to ask you about , should I start my step 2CK first since my clinical knowledge are still fresh or should I go for Step 1 first instead. Would love to hear your opinion about it 😀

Hey! Good luck on your exam! I'm sure you'll do great. As for my break time Block 1 - 5 min break Block 2 - 5 min break Block 3 - 10-15 mins eating my sandwich Block 4 - 5 min break Block 5 - 5 min break Block 6 - 5 min break Block 7 - 10 min break (I was really tired by this time. so I needed a long one before the last block - this helped me do well on the last one imo) Block 8 - DONE You'll have enough break time to use since you'll skip the tutorial part. Good luck!

Thank you Dr. for such a helpful video. So, if you finish your blocks early, is that time added to your total break time?

Thanks for your tips! I`m gonna take Step 1 soon and I have a few questions: 1. Does instruction that many advice to skip is really that useless? I mean, does it only teach how to use the interface, which, as I understand, is the same as on the UWorld, right? 2. Can you drink water, while you`re taking questions? Or is that only allowed during the breaks? I`m afraid that my heart bpm will go up sky rocket and It would be nice to have water always near. 3. Did you use drugs before the exam such as propranalol? Some people advice to test it on yourself prior to the exam, and then use it to keep down SANS to stay calm, but other people don`t advice to use any kind of drugs, so it won`t interfere with how your brain actually works (and we don`t know a lot about it in reality). Personally, I think to stay away from drugs, but I`m interested in your opinion on that topic.

Hi Inyaking! Those are great questions. Here are my answers: To Question 1: the interface is exactly the same as the FREE 120 online, not Uworld. As for the instructions, I skipped them all as advised, so I have no idea what was there. But I had absolutely no problem finishing the exam without going over them. To Question 2: No, you can only drink or eat when you're on your break. To Question 3: I agree with popular opinion. If you haven't tried using these drugs during your preparation, don't take them on test day. Only use them if you've gotten accustomed to using these and know how your body reacts to it (helpful or not). My experience: I had to take propanolol once for medical reasons and for some reason it made me sleepy and affected my performance on uworld, so yeah, don't use it on test day if you've never used it before. Hope these help! Good luck on your exam! :)

Did you have your first aid book with you in the locker? Did you have to refer to it in the breaks? Is it advisable to do so?

hello, did you use Anki for step 1? and also do you have score reveal? :)
@SarangChoiMD

Hi Michael! :) Yes I did use anki for my STEP 1 Prep. I highly recommend it. As for score reveal, my score isn't out yet 😅 due to the score delay announced by Usmle. So we shall see haha.

Do we need a watch for the exam?
@SarangChoiMD
@SarangChoiMD 2 жыл бұрын
No, you won't need a watch since the timer will be shown on the exam screen. The summary of your time left will also be shown every time you take a break after a block.

How long was each break?
@SarangChoiMD
@SarangChoiMD 3 жыл бұрын
That's up to you depending on how long you want to divide each of your breaktimes into. Divide roughy 55 minutes into 7 breaks.

But wouldn't the water make you pee a lot, would be uncomfortable wanting to pee during blocks
@SarangChoiMD
@SarangChoiMD 3 жыл бұрын
It won't be much if you divide them into 7 portions for your 7 breaks. And you can use the bathroom during each break if you have to. But I guess the best thing would be to do what your body is accustomed to during your regular study days. :)
