The one thing I wish was included in the scoring process, is how easy it is to clean the gadget. Often the gadget will perform as it should but it's almost impossible to keep hygienic, and often it's not machine washer friendly despite not being electric. For me as a consumer, hygiene and not having to waste a lot of time cleaning an item, is important.

It's not supposed to crack nuts. It's literally just supposed to keep the pieces together and make a hammer less loud. They do say you can use your hand, but the instructions with it show a hammer. However it's more of a design piece than an actual useful product. It's supposed to go on a countertop and look attractive.

Granted, these reviewed devices aren’t overly complicated, but you never know when the instructions hold a gem of wisdom to make the device work well.

My mom had the nut chopper shown at the end. Mostly she used it for peanuts which she used as one of a dozen or so toppings for Curry. But she also used it for crispy bacon to make bacon bits, herbs which she would use to season soups or in a bouquet garni, hard boiled eggs and other items (again as toppings for curry) which she would allow each person to choose to personal taste. The kid who had been best during the week got to use it, which we saw more as a prize than a chore.

In my experience of cracking quite a few free pecans I've picked up. I like the basic sturdy nut cracker I got at the hardware store. The one in the yellow/green box. I like it because as I bring the lever down I can control the force, stop & reposition the nut so I'm continuing the crack in just the right spot to simply crack it in half so there's a full nut on each side. Then after I get a pile I go back with a pair of needle nose pliers & snip off each end & I can usually get the nut out while or close to whole. But it's really just a developed technique of spending hours watching KZfaq while I crack tons of pecans.

I do have to admit this is super satisfying to watch like always. But I wonder....do the people who makes these gadgets see this and fix it like he suggest?

I think for the squirrel, a ratcheting mechanism with a release button would be a good idea, it’d would help with generating mechanical advantage for people with weaker hands.

We have a nut cracker that clamps on the table edge. You can adjust the 'squash' of the nut to allow for bigger nuts. Place one in, pull handle down, nut is cracked. It is for right handed people though. If they just invented a 'drill press' type, you could literally fly through cracking nuts. If it was big enough, you might even be able to crack a coconut!

17:30 They should have used a food processor to compete against the nut chopper. 😆 Two second pulse of the food processor. And.... Done! 😀
