About #5: There is no safe place at work at all. Of course not with your manager, but also not with your colleagues either. The only safe place is away from work with your family or your friends OUTSIDE of work.

I just keep my head down and work- I don’t share business or bring my personal business into anything. I find that to be the best way. I think I learned the hard way not to bring personal business to work in my late 20s and have been that way ever since.

The most satisfying thing is when you have a boss that dont have a clue how to do what you're doing is to say. "Oh ok,can you show me?" Then watch how many excuses they have, watch them have a meltdown and they'll go tell their higher up they cant work with you even though they haven't done any actual work at all

When my boss asks me to do something (after giving his big spiel on why I would be GREAT at it), I do it but nothing comes out of it. I don’t get advocated but someone else mediocre does. I don’t need constant praise but I feel like I’m putting in work but not getting any value from it.

2. theres favoritism. U give favoritism to those that help you succed and get job done. You will prioritize people that will not complain and bring up problems. 3. Your boss is not the boss, the person who owns the business is the boss. They are doing whatever their boss says 4. They can lie to your face. They will say i do not know because they have a boss 5. There is no such thing as a safe place. NEVER EVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN.

My boss definitely has favorites. You can when someone walks through the door if she gets excited to see them or has a blank face with a monotone. "Hi." I get the blank face and "hi" versus my coworker "Ohhh HI Seth how are you???"

That's all True. That's why, especially at work, we should all have emotional intelligence and separate professional from personal matters. Even though, in same cases, it goes hand in hand. In a work place, everybody is looking for their best interesting, so are we. But we have to be smart enough, and be more aware our work environment: "Listen more Speak less" and I guarantee that you'll be surprise to know "who is who". But again don't fall in to the trap of, on the first impression, cause "nothing is what it seems like".

What you say is all true I see it it’s too hard for me to trust managers to tell them my life story or ideas and favourites some managers you can see or read through them like a book and know who there favourites are all they want is someone like me that can do a certain things no questions asked and just get it done but once it comes down to learning and doing more they don’t help you back sometimes it’s because they the manager doesn’t want to make a bad impression to the owner that’s what I see and that’s what’s true agree with you and my ideas

Also I'm go to girl for manager to get the job done. When I asked her why I am the only employee to be working on all the projects when other supervisors of their departments have the same skills she told me that she knows I am capable of doing this and other people give her an attitude. That is nice to be recognized for your skills but why should I be overburdened with more projects due to manager's lack of skill to manage other employee?Any idea how I should stand up for myself without risking to be undermined at work.

I absolutely hated the lying so much. It was like I missed a memo on a day off that managers and supervisors should play games like that. All the "management wants you to do x". We all know who "management" really is. Why hide behind a faceless name? Another one they played was "Bob wants it done by COB". Bob doesn't even know that this task was even being done. I understand that the game had to be played, but I hated every moment of that game. I left to greener pastures.

I’m still mad 😡 but now we have a self centered small man that’s loves to get his ass kissed, sorry I wasn’t hired for that so needless to say I’m looking for something else I was hoping I would retire from here but it’s not going to happen. Liars!!! Story time🤣 I’m a social media mgr at my job right? They were short staffed on front desk (we used to have 4 receptionist and we were down to 1). So they offered me more hours and cross trained me. Cool I QUICKLY became overwhelmed & burnt out bc lack of support and more workload bc I was doing 2 jobs. Well I was very vocal about being unhappy, overwhelmed, burnt out. They kept promising me everyday “we’re hiring for another receptionist!!” Month later 2 managers put in they two weeks. One day, One of them pulled up our website on the computer to the CAREERS section and laughed about how soon her position was posted. I looked at the screen and saw both the manager positions but no receptionist postings. I said “where are the receptionist postings???” Everybody was quiet. That’s when I knew. 😂😂😂
