CD provides better sound quality than compressed music on phones, for people really into High fidelity sound, CD is still the best out there.

Wrong. You can get HD lossless digital files and even DSD with better quality than CD. A CD player introduces moving parts which generate noise...and can skip in a mobile application. Digital audio is superior in many ways

Completely disagree about number 3. CD players are a convenience and take up very little space, especially in the glove box where Audi chose to put it in the TTRS. CD audio is still one of the best formats for audio in terms of quality and beats most all of the lower bitrate choices from the popular streaming sources. Of course you can put lossless files on your phone or on a USB stick but for someone who still invests in the occasional CD (when lossless downloads are not offered) I appreciate having the option to use it in the TTRS.

Mine is Cataluna Red. I would have preferred another color but didn’t want to wait. I think there will be more of these since they are earlier in the model cycle for the Mark III. The car came with 20” wheels. I bought 19” wheels with All-Season tires because the selection of 20” tires is so limited. Michelin Super Pilot Sports. I like them. I’ll put the original Pirellis back on soon for the Summer.

SIM card is for MMI navigation system. As a matter of fact I think it's good solution cause the google maps would probably eats tons of your phone Internet connection package. Love your car :)

I subbed... 2 reasons, one, you said you were a car guy and your explanation is why I'm a car guy (moving on up to the exotics eventually), and 2, I am a 2018 TT RS owner as well. Came up from a 1995 MX6, to a 2015 WRX, to a 2016 STI, to my 2018 TT RS. Next stop? 2014 Porsche Turbo S... in a couple years ;) Any thoughts on your next car?

Look up mirror tap and blend mount... the cleanest install of your radar detector. Looks OEM in my car.

The cigarette lighter is there as a discreet location to charge things. The CD player is an for people who just want to listen to their favorite cd. I agree that nobody is going to use the internnet in the car but it is standard software on the Audi lignup and why remove it. Don’t pay for it if you don’t. The wheels look great to me and you chose that wheel style with your package. Paint color is also something you chose. That car is still a ttrs and can outperform cars that cost much more. I have driven one and think as a daily driver is better then the Nissan GTR.

Maybe if it was a SACD or a DVD-Audio. But only if the media center also supports FLAC and other lossless audio codecs from both the CD/DVDs and microSDXC cards.

The internet in the car thing is for the user to not have to use their own personal data. Especially if you are constantly streaming music from a site or if you use your GPS frequently. I guess you're getting to be older Hank since you don't like the new technology lol. I don't have a car that has internet I drive an 02 trans am ws6 but I'd enjoy that option in a daily for sure. Especially on those days where I take the lady somewhere and wait for her in the car. I can watch my gun videos while I wait =). But I'll wait for that option to becomes a free standard option probably with in the next 5+ years

I just purchased a tt rs 3 days ago It is a 2017 model and has memory seats and sports exhaust as standard in Australia It is the best quality car up to 250k in Australia I had a tt before the older version and after 4 years never had an issue. The tt rs is on another level Here in aus you need to spend 200k + to have similar performance and quality feel An I'm a huge fan of porsche When I compared cayman s, 718 s the car felt boring inside and was slower by a fair bit Fun to drive but the tt rs does everything well.

I own one and can't understand why you forgot about the No Sunroof and No memory seats. Memory seats are a must. There's also no rain gutter on the hatch, so when you open it up in the rain all the water runs into the trunk. Oh yeah, there's also a USB charging port in the front console, you just haven't found it yet.

The cd player is just a 4in1 media bay. That disc drive in there probably takes up no space and cost you 4 dollars and I could see way more people complaining about it not being there to play their older media as well.

If you get really bored, do a range test and see how far the Audi-net wifi reaches. If it is good service, could replace the home stuff unless you're a gamer or movie bootlegger, lol.

With a power port in the spot it is in, using Audi-net is a conveinence, and it appears on the full cluster display, instead of doing the same a person in a Ford ZX2 has to do to do nav and streaming while enroute.

I understand your criticism about the archaic DVD-Player, especially because it takes away even more of the little space available but criticizing the internet connection? The car will always have better signal than your small phone inside a metal cage, other passengers can use it as well and the car does not have to rely on your phone to be able to get navigation information and google maps data. I do not know if your model has all the assistants built in but they partially rely on mobile data. If you forgot your charger, the phone dies or you simply forgot it then you can't use a third of the new functions the car has. The Audi cloud features you are only able to use by paying for after the first 2 years (at least that is the time in Germany) should be included for free so the only thing you should need to pay is for the SIM card for the car, that is something we could agree on. But hating the internet connection? Nahhh...

I agree, Audi Connect and especially Android Auto (I never tested Apple CarPlay) are bugged so we can hate on the implementation but lets not hate at the function itself. I just checked it, with the MMI Navigation Plus here in Germany you get 3 years unlimited data for all integrated services such as Google Earth over the embedded SIM but for the WiFi hotspot you have to pay extra, the prices are ridiculous but you can use your own SIM for the hotspot as well. I don't drive an Audi myself but my father drives the new model, what he does not like at all is the new assistans (if they see a speed sign at the back of a truck they think it is the speed limit or they brake the car extremely hard if they recognize a slower speed limit etc.), although they will be surely updated in the future, the extremely small glove box, the standard seats (forgot to order the better ones lol) and the standard audio system which is a lot worse than that of his 3 year old Audi. What he absolutely loves is the LED Matrix light and the two displays that are highly customizable, in my opinion the second display in the middle should not have such huge bezels and the bezel design itself is ugly as well.

Hank Strange They make wiring kits that tap into the power on your rear view mirror. They are VERY cheap and it makes a great solution for wire free installation! Most modern mirrors have some adapter you can tap right into, so check that out! They sell those kits on Amazon. Let me know if you need a link...

The cup holders were intentionally designed to be useless. No American cans, coffee carafes or plastic beverage bottles will fit. Only a stupid ceramic mug that Audi makes fits. The suspension is brutally stiff.

So you claim you are a car guy.. yet the complaints about cigarette lighter placement is a poor one. For people who charge phones etc its a perfect placement. Thats where you are meant to store your phone after all. You then nit pick over the wheel colour choice! Claim you dont have time to have them painted yet you have time to edit youtube vids etc. Lol. A proper car enthusiast loves modifications. Especially basic ones like getting wheels painted. Id be more picky over the silver petrol flap. Should be black on the black optics pack. Silver on the wheels tie in with the audi badges and the black ties in with the black optics pack. Only valid points imo is the cd player and sim card.

Also.... to claim you are a car guy but wont spend money on different wheels etc as you loose money is laughable. We dont build cars or modify cars to MAKE MONEY. Everyone who modifies cars fully accepts they wont gain money from it. Its to improve the car and make it their own. Some go mad. Some go more power,some make it look individual some like to make it how they feel it should be from factory. Some do all of the above. Honestly if it was mine the main complaints would be 1.Dvd player 2.Sim card. 3.Supersport seats arent special enough as they are in all high end cars from s3's to rs's. Need something like last gen's wingback seats. 4. Sport mode should allow FULL control of the gears 5. Them horrid reflectors of the front bumper on the usa specced cars.

German cars are shit! I used to be a technician and everyone dreaded seeing the German cars stroll in. I remember having to pull the motor on an Audi to change a thermostat!! A fucking thermostat!! Nine hours of labor for what us usually a $10 part. The owner sold the car the following week. Sorry Hank, but take my word for it. Sell it! You want fast? Get an Infiniti or a Lexus.
