We are first time chicken owners and people thought I was crazy all the research I was doing. Acquaintances were giving us crap about The size of our Chickdominium and our Clucker Flock. I want to go into this intelligent and be able to take care of my girls. I researched as you stated "temperament, climate, egg production, space (run vs free range). Our very first order of 6 arrived all dead our replacements are suppose to arrive today and we are not expecting them alive they sat in Minnesota for 2 full days, today is the 72 hour mark. Our other order from another hatchery arrived within 24 hours and are all healthy and happy.

Hello, I have 10 chickens , my son got them 2 years ago as chicks from Tractor Supply . We just love our hens. Watching your videos has helped us raise them well and you have helped problem solve a lot of our questions and concerns that have come up with them as well, Thank you. We love our chickens! We started our farm with horses, pigs, and guinea fowl - finally decided to add chickens this year. Couldn't be happier!

Guinea fowl are definitely on my list. How easy are they to care for compared to the chickens?

@@blueresidoo They're much easier than chickens. Our guinea fowl pretty much take care of themselves. They are excellent foragers and require very little feed (they prefer to forage). Guineas are definitely more wild than chickens. Our guineas follow us around and like to be with us, but they don't want to be handled at all. Ours free range 24/7; and even though they have their own coop, they prefer to roost on the fencing next to their coop. Ticks were awful on our property, and I have seen one tick since adding the guinea fowl. Fair warning, though, they are VERY loud. They will alarm over anything or anyone, which can be great, but lots of people hate it. Personally, their chatter doesn't bother me, and it's nice to know my other animals have an early warning system. Guinea eggs are delicious, too. They are smaller and have much thicker shells than a regular chicken egg. But the egg yolk to white ratio is slightly higher, so what they lose in size makes up for in richness (they taste the same as a chicken egg).

Just got chickens, they're a 😢barnyard mix from someone in the local homesteading group so no clue what mom or dad of any of them are. They're young but my roo got his big boy voice 😁

I have a flock various breeds and sizes. Just hatched a few from my own birds…not sure I really wanted to do that but time will tell. Currently getting my summer setup ready to keep the coop tolerably cool the next 5-6 months here in the Arizona desert.

The starter waterer and feeder in the chick starter box were the biggest problem for me too. Not enough instructions in box, for sure. Local place i got chicks from not much better. Trial and error for sure. They only offered 3 breeds also. I took 1 of each. They are thriving.....so at least they were healthy.🎉😊

I just started with chickens I have 4 Golden Comets. My girls are so cute I wish I had gotten a larger coop. I am going to either buy one from Tractor supply or get one built in the next 2 weeks.

I have to figure out how to build a proper place for them. Safety is an issue. From foxes, raccoons, snakes, and God knows what else, wants chickens for a meal.
