Hello and welcome to the last week of #KIKASPHOTOCHALLENGE!
How much time do you spend taking photos, coming up with new ideas, writing captions, crafting blog posts, making videos or editing Instagram Reels, and how much time do you spend actually promoting them?
If you're anything like me, the act of advertising your work might feel really unnatural and even gross and awkward to do.
You might be struggling with thoughts like "if I advertise my stuff people will think I'm annoying" or "if I just create really valuable content I'm sure people will find me".
But let's be honest here, those are excuses we make up to not have to go through the uncomfortable task of promoting ourselves and sharing our work.
The awkwardness and ickiness really kicks in when you create your first paid products and you're actually trying to sell something to your community. We might be afraid that our audience will stop following us if we come across as salesy or don't provide that free value like we think our audience is used to.
But, here's the thing, no matter if you're creating free or paid for products, the most important thing to keep in mind is who you are creating this content for.
Imagine how much it can help someone who is looking for exactly the thing you have to offer! Now, focus on that person full heartedly whenever you feel icky or doubtful about what you're promoting.
If the idea of promoting your work makes you cringe, and you'd rather go and hide under the duvet when it comes time to make an Instagram story mentioning you're newest products or blog post, then I've got some tips that might help out any fellow self promotion avoiders.

1:31 hit me hard! XD And tip 4 is so spot on - focusing on the receiver's benefits rather than our own ego as the creator :) I mostly make videos and only recently started to really promote them on my own Instagram, maybe because I only recently started to feel that my videos actually have value that will be beneficial to some people. I'm quite surprised at the positive feedback my not-close friends and acquaintances gave me and they actually became voluntary and loyal viewers! But some videos I make I still don't feel they're good enough for me to promote...but I guess I have to roll back to the beginning when I start making a new video, thinking of the value I want people to get and not just what I feel like making. Thank you for this Mindset Mondays series! It's been helpful and enjoyable to watch :)

I never thought one of my photos will be exhibited in an art gallery. This morning I got the precious mail. I blog about my photography too. I am in a blogging from a to z challenge and I chose to blog about gaming first. Just share screenshots and videos on how I play some Facebook games. My blog got a structure sooner than I thought. I use games as pilot theme but also add some photography achievements, how-to, future exhibitions, etc.

Spot on! I always feel bad promoting my work. So much I am closing my business since I don't promote enough. I feel annoying and the impostor syndrome doesn't help, always thinking if people come to notice the work, will also notice its flaws. Moreover, I feel like if I am not paying Instagram I will be stuck forever to the same followers (I grew something like 50 followers in a year). It's nice seeing you happy, though. I wish you the best and as always, great video.

This was such a helpful video! It always makes me very uncomfortable actually promoting my work, and I've definitely been guilty of the attitude of if I just keep making it maybe someone will stumble upon it. The tip to create stories around your work is especially useful, I make music and I create videos around the music that help tell the story, such as behind the song, guitar tutorials etc. Rather than repeatedly telling people to go and listen which makes me feel icky and is probably not very effective, I can offer new content that hopefully adds value but is still helping to promote the song. Thank you for another amazing video! :)

Sometimes people around you said something which demotivate you like " who you think you are" It's not good, why you are posting Why you post a lot You are such an attention seeker Noone want to see it What they think if other saw this. It's hurt sometimes and because of that I stop posting for a month or 2. I just post anything because for me it's like a memory of mine.
