I wish the Newspapers site had more detailed search options such as wildcards and such. I do find myself pulling my hair out while trying different versions of names because it has to match exactly what was printed in the newspaper.

Oh my goodness!! Check out the immigrant tip!!! Great granny hated America but didn't want to duplicate the voyage. NYT p2 25-Dec-1908 tells us about that voyage in vivid detail.

do you have newspapers from foreign countries such as Germany?

No, I don't think so. On the home page, on the map, click the down arrow where it says "United States" to see available countries.
