Great souvenirs are things you actually need like new kitchen towels, potholders, etc.

I’m naturally cautious with what I bring home from the thrift store bc I know someone that ended up with bed bugs on a bed frame. They didn’t know that they would get on metal! I love thrifting though! I just really try to be careful now I know it can happen so easily.

Agree. It's a risk. My sister once took a desk off the side if the road, in great condition, then got bed bugs. But on the other end, I once bought a dining table from Goodwill when we were working out of state and took nothing with us... I still have that table and it's been 10 years. 😂

I have a hard time getting rid of memory based items, like yearbooks, scrap books and things of that nature. My grandma got diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. She used those items daily in her old age to look back on things to try to hold on to pieces of herself. She would have been lost without those items . By 85 she was mostly lost to herself.. but we would show her those items.. and sometime sit would spark memories. She is long gone now.. but that always stuck with me.

What a sweet thing to have all those memories to show her!!! I love the idea of keeping memory books.

When I first started reading your comment I was going to comment a saying I heard about items and memories. Then I read your comment all the way and it absolutely broke me. 😭 I’m so sorry about your grandma ❤️

@@megantenielle1701 thank you! I know she is in Heaven now, watching over us, healed of her bodily ailments. 💕 I definitely want to make a couple scrape books for my mom now too.. just incase she has the genetic factors similar to her mother. There are times where I watch Hoarders and see people not wanting to let go of things dude to the memories and emotions it brings though… and that’s a scary thing too. I know I can’t let it get to that point lol 😂 NEVER 👎

I have a set of salt and pepper shakers ( the basic plastic ones from the spice isle that already has salt and pepper in them) because every time my in laws come for a visit they always are asking me where is my salt and pepper shakers are. We don't use salt and pepper shakers in our house we just use the container the pepper comes in and the container that the salt comes in ( I have one that some pink salt came in and I just refill it with the regular salt out of the big container and it has the plastic piece that has holes in it and I don't have to refill it that often).

Today is going to be sunny and warm, so I plan to go thru grandboys outdoor toys. Getting rid of what is broken and outgrown. We emptied a big bin in the garage so that will be designated spot for new outdoor toys instead of randomly placing them wherever an spot can be found. Lots of great tips today!

These tips are phenomenal!! I scan my receipts on fetch etc for points and then toss them...I have parted ways with most of my plastic bags for sure. I know many live thriving but find I am not a good thrift store buyer. So I buy new, not expensive, but high quality that will last for things like clothes, jewelry, etc.. I am halfway through Dec littering my home thanks to you...and I am committed to doing the rest and keeping it up daily and or weekly! You are amazing!

Another to declutter is floaties or life jackets that don't fit your kids anymore, we are fixing to be going on vacation and i had to get one of my boys a life jacket because his floaties that was attached to a life vest had gotten to small for him and then i had to get my youngest a new one this year and i bought a used one from someone and i misread the label and thought it said that it was for a bigger size then it was and thought it looked kinda small and didn't realized till i got home and compared it to my other son's that it was to small so now i had to go and buy a brand new one that was yhe right size so now i have to declutter the one i bought that was to small.

I store my plastic bags from the grocery in my trash can, I keep about 2 extra in each trash can, so when I empty a bag of trash I have another bag readily available

I know this is usually a decluttering/cleaning channel, but I'm going to need you to at least do 1 hair styling video of all of your hair styles you've worn. Your hair always looks so great!

You're so kind!!! I'm actually going blond for the summer and I CAN'T WAIT!! I blow dry upside down and over correct with a brush...that helps with the volume. Then I curl with a 1in curling iron leaving the ends out. The side braids are dutch braids and I always stretch them a little to make them look thicker! Hope that helps!

Great tips. Where I live most charity shops are really expensive & it’s often cheaper to buy new stuff. I had the same problem with my e-Mail box a couple of weeks ago & couldn’t send or receive any e-mails. I felt lost, so have paid for more storage. I know that some people wouldn’t do this but I feel it’s worth it. (It was about £8.00.)

Ah. Salt and pepper shakers. Interesting story for me. Lol. To make it short, I got a set of mom and pop fat chef style (sort of) that were my grandma’s. Prob were from the 1940s or 1950s. It’s prob in the top 5 of my memento items. One of my fave things ever ever ever. So then I started picking up similar to those when I’d run across some randomly thrifting. Some are cat themed. So now those go in my chatzkie curio. Haven’t found any in quite awhile yet lately tho. They’d have to be super special/unique/fitting for me to buy them tho. For my daily I also use the grinders or one simple salt shaker. And just being a huge fan of black pepper, now I’m spoiled and can’t have it any other way than fresh ground. 😂😂 I prob have “collected” too much salt but I guess no big since it lasts forever anyways. (I’m just making a point to not buy any more for a long long time lol). I have found many great blankets and quilts at the thrift store. Still have this one Nautica quilt I found there years and years ago. But they seem to be random. Sheets are often a hit and miss.

Fun story about the shakers!!! I got my mom a little set of bird shakers few years back and she has them on display on a bakers rack in her kitchen!! Thanks for your feedback on the blankets and sheets!

@@FancyThatwithCandice How cute. Your mom prob likes having special and pretty stuff from her daughter, I’m sure. Thanks tho. Those to me are the coolest thing ever. One is a man chef/baker and the other is a female chef/baker and she actually looks like my grandma did back when she was middle aged. (She was the primary fam cook). 😂😂 Extreme nostalgia factor there I reckon. And just being crazy cat lady there are some cat ones and cat/human looking ones. I know I’m so weird. 🤣🤣 And also not a shaker but one of those Japanese ceramic cats where the head comes on and off. Lol. Thanks for bearing with me. The rest is just random tho. I have some old retro stuff in there as well along with other more delicate mementos and a few fancy formal glass things that are just plain pretty. It is my container limit tho. Has to all fit in the curio.

I have not had good luck with thrifted fitted sheets, they tend to be too warn out, especially the elastic. Blankets and comforters I have had good luck, but like anything else, look for the diamond in the rough. Once home I wash them right away in pure hot water and dry on high heat to kill anything that could be lurking.

Look at the elastic on thrifted fitted sheets. Is it stretchy? Cracked? Especially at the corners. If you pull on the corners, is it like there's no elastic there? Is the elastic a thick band? Ally sheets are thrifted. I was in hot water twice.

I try so hard being so careful of things I buy. Then one time I don't check the receipt, I got rip off 30 dollars. Because I didn't check the receipt. A mistake on their side. I live 2 hours away.

All Tupperware is plastic containers, but not all plastic containers are Tupperware. Make sure you use the term "plastic containers" when you want to include all plastic containers.
