Guys, let's talk eTorque. 1. Download an accelerometer app on your cell phone (e.g., Sensor Sense) 2. Find a smooth stretch of road. 3. Get two RAMs with identical power trains side-by-side, one with eTorque and one without, and drive them down that road while recording the acceleration on your phone. Make sure you place the phone at the same spot in each truck so it's an apples-to-apples comparison. 4. Objectively compare the accelerations from each gear shift between the eTorque and non-eTorque transmissions.

You can option a 2500 Tradesman with the Power Wagon Package along with a few other options and stay under $55K MSRP. This is just one more choice available - each of the the trucks has Pro's and Cons. Maybe FCA should offer a Blender option instead of the E Torque that does nothing!

If you off-road for real 3 weekend a month over 5+ months...jeep. if you commute, haul anything for diy or home use, and want to overland and camp like most actually do without any 'hardcore' off road...the Ram, or any 1500 size truck. I think that the Rebel offers a lot more for the money, and is the more complete, utilitarian package. When it comes down to everyday comfort & drivability, payload & towing capacity, and power, unless you're planning on spending most of your time trying to crawl up to the top of El Capitan, I can't see purchasing a Gladiator, especially if it was going to be your sole mode of transportation.

But going back to a 22 ram rebel diesel - with 2 kids, a 6000lb trailer and long highway drives, as much as I'm an enthusiast the rebel does 95% of the offroad I will reasonably do and is far far far better at towing and on long highway drives.

The Ram has a windshield defroster that, wait for it, actually defrosts the windshield! It also has an AWD setting for the winter, a feature that's unavailable on the Rubicon.
