Күн бұрынHere is my DIY oil change on my 2010 Trail Edition Toyota 4Runner. I change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles. This is an easy DIY maintenance activity anyone can do with the correct tools and equipment.

Front Plastic Cover - 10 mm
Skid Plate - 12 mm
Oil Drain Cover - 12 mm
Oil Drain Plug - 14 mm
Oil Filter Housing - MotivXTools - 64 MM Filter Wrench - Model MX2320
Oil Drain Plug - 30 ft/lbs
Oil Filter Housing - 18 ft/lbs
Oil Filter Housing Drain Plug - 10 ft/lbs
Skid Plate - 21 ft/lbs (Hand Tight)
Plastic Cover (Hand Tight)
New Oil Used - Around 6.5 Quarts

That skid plate putting back on is the worst part of the 4 runner oil change.

Why do Toyota use the filter oil change instead of the canister?

Good question. Here are my theories: 1. Less waste per oil change and saving the environment. 2. Better filtration than the canister. 3. Make it tricky so the DIY's take their car to the dealership. 4. Make their owners feel like they are driving an exotic car or race car (this is me) I have no idea but I am sure someone out there knows and hopefully they chime in.
