That silver drain plug thing that you put in on the bottom of your old oil filter. Is that a sold separate thing? And is that what that’s for?
@andysbusadventures
@andysbusadventures 3 ай бұрын
The silver part of the oil filter is part of the filter housing. It should already be on your 4Runner. To the best of my knowledge, it is there to drain your oil out of the filter canister so it does not make a mess. A lot of people will not use it and therefore they will not replace the o-ring. The Toyota oil filter replacement kit will come with the filter, two o-rings and the little plastic drain that helps you drain the oil before taking off the entire canister. When replacing the metal part at the bottom of the filter, do not over tighten. Also, do not use that metal part to tighten the entire canister. Thanks for watching and hopefully that helps.

I replaced the stock and I noticed it was much stiffer but in a good way. Less rolling around corners and less of a nose dive when braking hard. You will get used to it pretty quickly.

So here's what's confusing on this. We have the same, 2016 CRV AWD and I bought the Honda brake fluid so that I could do the change. We have a neighbor who is a mechanic. He's offered to do it for me for a really inexpensive price. He's a very good mechanic. He knows that I don't like getting under the vehicle anymore. But here's the confusing part. I mentioned that I was going to do this, the way this vid shows. But he said this is not "recommended" because the ABS pump has brake fluid in it and that needs to be changed as well. He mentioned "flush", using a machine. Has anyone else had the full system flushed, including the ABS pump?

Great video. Used this to compensate where the manufacturer's video didn't explain things well. I'll add that pressing the brake before turning the key after remote starting will kill the motor. That will take some behavior changes as I usually press the brake before anything.

So the kdss function was not affected by the slightly higher front? in the same vein, you could also do a longer/taller old man emu spring to lift the rear right? This same principle would work for GX460?
@andysbusadventures

I have put 50,000 miles on my 4runner with and the KDSS has not been negatively impacted. I would assume it would work with the GX460 and I would assume you would be able to go taller in the rear as well, but I do not have any experience with this. Thanks for the comment and good luck!

I put the 5100s on my 4 runner, I noticed the driver’s side was just slightly lower, I called Bilstein and they said I should have used the 6112s which has an adjustment just for that reason! I ended up using a small spacer to get it perfect. The other problem with Bilstein is once you set the adjustment ring you are committed! My son went with Eibach shocks, we were able to change the stance without removing the shock, just by turning a spanner wrench. Just FYI your your installation was spot on, easy to fallow and very professional. Great work!

Why do Toyota use the filter oil change instead of the canister?
@andysbusadventures
@andysbusadventures Жыл бұрын
Good question. Here are my theories: 1. Less waste per oil change and saving the environment. 2. Better filtration than the canister. 3. Make it tricky so the DIY's take their car to the dealership. 4. Make their owners feel like they are driving an exotic car or race car (this is me) I have no idea but I am sure someone out there knows and hopefully they chime in. Hi. so i noticed my brake pedal a bit stiff after i refilled my brake fluids but did not bleed the brakes. Would this be the main cause of a stiff brake pedal? the brake booster seems fine though. Thanks
@andysbusadventures
@andysbusadventures Жыл бұрын
Not a mechanic but here are a few things that came to mind. If you did not change your fluid but only topped it off, it may be time to refill with all new fluid. I would also check your brake booster and check for vacuum leaks in general. Lastly, is there a possibility that you put in too much fluid? Just a thought. Best of luck and if all else fails, find a trusted mechanic. I appreciate you watching and I wish I could be more help.
