The pay for shipping thing is GENIUS. I do this too. Id rather spend 8$ on shipping then spend another $25 to get something I didnt need or want.

I do online grocery now and definitely stay within my weekly budget and if it goes over I can take out items I snuck in

"Maintaining an image of wealth without actually being wealthy" really hits hard. I belong in the middle class family, whilst I was growing up my family just had enough every month. Then got a degree, got a good job and income, but because I wasn't able to buy what I want when I was young, I became an spender when I already had the means. I also increased my lifestyle, back then I was single and had all my pay only to me and some to my parents. Here watching because from a very nice paying job to a minimal pay, after I got married and migrated. I need to live below my means and start thinking about our family's future but the temptations are everywhere. So here I am watching to keep me away from buying non essential stuffs and keep on saving.

If I have to pay for shipping, I’m not buying it! With a new mindset, this is probably saving me a lot of money. 😂 I will often look for a coupon code, etc to get free shipping or a discount to cancel out the shipping. But if a product is $20 and the shipping is $8? Nope! 🙌😂 Great video, Christina. I always appreciate and enjoy your content! ❤️

Same! I scroll etsy quite a bit and I cannot tell how many items have been left there, when shipping would have been more than the item itself.

I haven’t tried online grocery shopping yet but I want to. What I do differently now is make a list of what I need and stick to it! Helps me with overspending and wasting food 😄

I think another way to save money is by trying to think about whether one is buying something because they have been manipulated to buy the product/service due to great advertising/marketing. If the answer is yes, don't buy it or find an alternative that is a lot cheaper. I also do finance videos. Keep up the great work!

Since I‘ve deleted ALL shopping apps from my phone and tablet I‘ve noticed that I stopped browsing nearly entirely. I think that regular homepages aren‘t as appealing over the phone in comparison to Apps. Now when I want to browse I‘ll do it without the Apps and get a bit bored because of the look of a website on my phone and that stopped me from „just looking“. Greetings from Germany💕

I started paying for shipping too! We also quit Amazon Prime, which shocks people since I have a large family, but when stuff broke or some “need” came to mind, the kids were like, “Just order it from Amazon!” Um, no. I don’t think it’s good for their brains (or mine) or the planet to get a package everyday. I make lists, load up my shopping cart in the grocery or Target app, and plan the majority of our purchases. There really isn’t anything so important that we can’t wait a couple days to go out for it. And there are times when that “must have” item was removed from the cart when we found a substitute, the desire went away, or I just realized that there’s no need to restock my kids’ summer clothes in February! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just started watching your channel a few days ago, as I am currently in the middle of a decluttering/revamping of my life as a whole. Your videos have been super helpful as I have been reflecting on my spending habits and accumulation of stuff in my new home. I am a notoriously impulsive person, which I used to think was something to be proud of but now I am realizing how my impulse spending is killing me. I am currently working on my budget for next month so I can get my spending under control and reach my goal of eliminating 10K in debt this year.

Great video! I agree with your points. I did unsubscribe from sales emails and newsletters. I also eliminated all shopping apps on my phone and iPad, and dumped all social media except KZfaq. I had to come up with an alternative activity to scrolling that is easy to do so I subscribed to audible. The monthly fee is within my budget, and mindless shopping is not. Plus I’ve learned so many new things. Thanks again for great content on achieving budget goals.

I save money by budgeting and tracking my weekly spending to check in on what’s left on the budget. Also, waiting a few days before buying things in my cart! That way I have time to reconsider the purchase and see if it was an impulse or a true want/need.

Hi Christina, can you may give (if you not already did) some day an overview of what percentage of your income you spend for fixed costs per month, what for "wants" and what you are able to save. I totally understand if you do don't want to share hard numbers but it would be nice to get an idea if you could share the percentages. I also aim to pay back a high sum and this might motivate me :)

Hey Big spender! If you can't resist spending money and you have any outdoor space or windowsill space, I recommend you spend on stuff to grow some of your own food. Lots of vegetables can be grown from the scraps of one of that vegetable. Save you money on groceries for years once you have bought the start up things. Just a suggestion. Xx

One thing I've found helpful recently is I "watch" things on ebay (some auctions seem to go on forever 😅) and they quite often go over what I want to pay for them OR by the time the auction is almost over I realise I don't really want the item anymore 🤣 Now that's lazy.

I used to look on the QVC and Home Shopping sites every day to see what the special of the day was. I purchased a lot of stuff I either never used or used a few times. I don't go to those sites anymore. That way I'm not tempted to purchase anything.

We get bad when we used Instacart. We realized that we were sending people into a place where we didn’t feel safe. It felt wrong. We will use Instacart when we are too ill to go out but not all the time.

In the UK the supermarkets tend to have a smaller online range and the cheaper items in each category tend not to be available, hence I shop in store with a list. Shopping online doesn't make sense to me with groceries.
