100% agree with you about an amazing performance...Disagree about everyone enjoying......instead of "living" the moment they must take that dopey phone out of the pocket and live life through that...so sad.....their lost......Oh, by the way ,if Verdi were american he would be plain old " Joe Green"

There is another video from Opera North in the same shopping centre - tenor Rafael Rojas singing 'Nessun dorma' with the ladies of the Chorus of Opera North. Equally glorious and making me envious of the people who live up there. Stunning stuff.

Growing up my Mom would play what We called Long Hair music on Sunday morning to get us up for Church. Orchestra music. Later in life I heard Opera on the radio & loved it. I myself can see the beauty in all music.

AWESOME! THANK YOU! I was fortunate to sing in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus for thirty years including three different sold-out concerts in Carnegie Hall NYC. We also were asked to augment Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus along with soloists from the New York Metropolitan Opera on three different Rivinia summer season openers. Quite a "rush".............

Interesting, yes. Successful, I'm not so sure. But maybe a short concert of four or five of the best of Opera and musical theater of movie scores. Things like Un Bel di Vedremo, O MIo Babbino Caro, May It Be, Nella Fantasia, the New Arirang. I'd pay Money to see something like that.

I once saw the opera performed at Xanthen in the Roman amphitheatre in Germany. A perfect clear night with the crescent moon shining right over the most moving scene. Amazing! I also saw Carmen there in the rain. An altogether different experience as no umbrellas were allowed! 😬

Nice to see Opera North do things. I remember the first time I went to this old theater in Newcastle to listen to them, with only a hundred grey haired English on top of me and my Finnish friend. The Sage Gateshead was an improvement, but still not half the cultural service in a town of 200.000 people in Finland. Well, now, after Brexit, the British can listen to their own, so maybe that will help. Although I doubt it.

In mainstream movies and shows, classical music, especially opera, is either derided or ridiculed or used as background music for creepy serial killers. It’s so heartwarming to watch these videos and see people absolutely getting into it! Bravissimi!

The orchestra/brass sound exceptionally profesional and clear. I couldn't barely exctract any musical frequencies/ notes from the quire. Sounded like a bunch of graveyard ghosts "hooing"

I think that if the singers were marching along and wearing the opera attire of Egyptian costumes, many of the people ignoring them would pay attention.

Only in the UK. I used to go to Convent Gardens to listen to opera arias. I don't think that they were professional singers, just good amateur singers.

I dont know why classical music is MORE powerful when performed in normal spaces? It seems odd that an orchestra, choir or opera singer are so much less engaging when in their usual setting (for me at least). I think a grand setting makes performers to remote and their skill seem inhuman. A more natural setting makes more emotional connection as you can see they are actually very talented PEOPLE.
@sinpi3143 жыл бұрын
Because normal places are usually not acoustically treated, this produces a lot of reverb which makes sound a lot more powerful.
