Hi, And many thanks for the upload, I love to see the first cut of a site and these two seem to be even more powerful and fast than I have seen for a while.

You can always tell a guy who knows what he's doing on a scraper when he turns his bail Into the hitch to keep from slamming
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
norWISequipment Lesson number one to avoiding whiplash,always keep light sideways pressure on the bale. Even when you're getting pulled sometimes the front guy slows a little in a soft spot an then WHAM, broken bale or whiplash.

"hooking it" is what we tell the new guys to do to avoid the jerk. Hooking it, alot, makes for a loose bail.

The green operator slammed into the back of me five times. To this day I can not even walk anymore

Great video, your skycam would have been awesome following these two. Liked.

It's interesting watching these cycle. I wouldn't have an idea on where even to start one lol. Very expensive things, very site specific.

Tax me I'm Canadian they are fun to operate.

Omg!! They are soooo cute!!

DRAG the pan as you come in to the cut for a smoother ride. And keep the pan up when the bowl is empty about a few inches from the ground to clip anything above your cutting edge for a smoother ride. Blade off the haul road if the blademan can't keep up. You have only one back so take care of it.

Love running these scrapers. So productive with good operators. Because of bad operators I am never able to operate heavy equipment again. Wished companies would never put green operators in the seat.

Good job bru

Seems these would be a major drop-off in horsepower and bowl capacity from the 657s you usually feature.

This is some bad ass equipment. How many hours does a scraper usualy run before you "retire" them?
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
I've run 657E series scrapers with 35,000 hours on them.
@jimmyjohnson77699 жыл бұрын
dcugseth they never retire the older ones just keep rebuilding

A lot of 627Bs and 637Ds from the 70s are still running.

how does your back feel after a day in that machine?
@laundrieshanging90778 жыл бұрын
pretty comfy in the newest ones H and K, other than those models they're all back killers
@Rick_Dunaway9 жыл бұрын
So you push him to help get loaded then he pulls you as you load yourself? thanks for the cool video, i've never seen a team like this. looks like you've got the cycle time down pretty low.
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
That's right. They are 700hp each and take a minute to self load, with two you are loading with 1400hp and 30 seconds per scraper to load. Hook up three and you have 2100hp and 15 second loads. Scraper are like Voltron. The more you hook up the better it gets!
@rangerman3759 жыл бұрын
vantagetes Scraper Voltron... that, is awesome. What's the longest (feasible) combination you've ran?
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
rangerman375 8 657E scrapers, that's 8800 horsepower on one cutting edge. Even with 3 you have to be really careful on not digging too deep or the hydraulics cant lift the bowl back out, and heaven forbid if you hook a big rock. Jackknife city, and someones ending up on rear radiator or breaking a bale. Takes a lot of people that know whats going on to do it right.

Nice video. looks like rough, long boring day!!
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
Not very boring when you are ripping around at 50km/h and turning out a load every 4 minutes.
@jocamp779 жыл бұрын
certainly productive!! how many tons of dirt you you get moved in a day running like that?
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
About 4500yd3 in 8-9 hours.
@chuckleahy89469 жыл бұрын
vantagetes seemed like an awful long time in the cut with first can. but very nice equipment

Chuck Leahy the dirts real silty and sandy so it takes a bit
@swiftyjim29 жыл бұрын
Do you guys take breakfast and lunch breaks in Canada? I know some earthmoving companies in the U.K, Ireland and Australia wont let the machines Stop. You.can have a break when they're. Fueling up.
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
10, 1 and 4 are the pretty standard breaks doing construction here.
@jocamp779 жыл бұрын
vantagetes so are you working a 12 hour day in the west?
@thequattro20v9 жыл бұрын
Mayby a stupid queston but how to hell do you know where to cut and where to dump as a scraper operator? GPS???
@vantagetes9 жыл бұрын
Read the grade stakes. Or if you are stripping topsoil like we are in this video take the black stuff to the big pile.
@oomachiw1119 жыл бұрын
thequattro20v read the grade stakes, they are also laid out to the contours of what is being developed, a good scraper hand will know how deep his 627 or 657 cuts when using the grousers (commonly called corner bits by most).
@thequattro20v9 жыл бұрын
vantagetes Well that was simple enough, even for me. :)

Eddie Cardinal Nice to know, i don't know if we have a scraper in Finland at all. Never seen one. :)
@thepizzadevil73929 жыл бұрын
dot they wear down the tires fast?
@bigmario7685 жыл бұрын
The tyres should last longer than the machine in these kinds of conditions but in saying that over all they take quite the beating in general purpose use
@swazeyyy5 жыл бұрын
If you spin the tires at my work you get one warning and if you do it again you get sent home. Tires are 10k each and are the biggest maintenance expenses for these things
@jacobo5659 жыл бұрын
I don't care if they are brand new, after 12 hours they are still a fucking scraper. Sounds like they really have gotten the cabs quiet, anything you don't particularly like about them? Edit: wtf is with the volvo did it get lost on the way to the junk yard
