This bug and motor are amazing!!! So awesome. I just bought a 1776 for my og paint 63 but I really want to bump it up to an 1835. I heard these big engines (if you push them hard) have lots of problems and will brake parts all the time? And also that the gas mileage is about the same as a v8. I know there are many variable to my question but what is your opinion? Thanks!!

Kyle Adams You are right about the gas mileage though, good thing I don’t daily this car. If you build your motor right and with quality parts and do a regular maintenance,your motor will be good. Go to samba for more info about engine building. 😀😀

Had a 71 with a 2180. The seat came off upowershifting. Pulled right through, bolts washers and nuts.

Dennis - beautiful car. My son and me are doing a ground up restoration on a 72. Love the stance of your car. I think you nailed it. Would you mind sharing the tire and wheel sizes? Maybe offsets.

Patrick. The wheels are 16x7(23.3 mm offset)and 16x6.(36 mm offset) 225 50 16 rear and 195 50 16 front. Keep in mind my 64 bug has a short axle tubes.

@@tinroof39 the rear axles of 66 n below I believe are short axles. And for the front I have 2” narrowed beam with adjusters and drop spindles. Hth

@Silent Hill Fan Low mileage car..keep it original. Good choice. If you will modify just make sure they are bolt ins and that could easily turn back to stock. Keep all the original parts. Take care.

Probably a dumb question but I'm looking into doing a vw project later on down the line so I just don't know any better, but do you need to do anything to the engine compartment to get such anlwrge engine to fit? Moving the firewall back or anything?

Logan Brownlee I didn’t do any cutting on the engine compartment or moving the firewall back, the engine is a little wider with 5.5 rods but it fits without cutting any metal. hth

ok thank you bro ... I am curious to find out how to lesson the noise but if its natural for those parts i am ok. I am running a 82 crank with 94 pistons on scat c25 cam with the rario rockers and dual high rev valve springs. I am guessing i will be hearing a little noise in the cylinder heads.

No modifications. I’m using 8mm spacers because of the adjusters on the adjustable spring plates are really close to the tires. Should fit with stock spring plates with no problem.
