Georgian wines are very unique. The ones that I have tasted have been very distinct. I am surprised that the experts didn't seem to be familiar with them. You should also have mentioned that Georgia is where wine originated, more than 7 000 years ago.

Lot of brilliant women in the industry! Don’t forget sisters Näkel! The traumatic experiences of the Näkel sisters Meike and Dörte, from Weingut Meyer-Näkel, who were swept away by floodwaters, have been reported. But the details Wine-Searcher has learned of their adventures read like something from the plot of a 1970s disaster movie. The sisters had gone to their winery, just outside town, to try and save equipment from the flood. Caught out by the rapid rise of the flood waters, they became trapped in the building. They originally tried to escape onto the roof but, when a large gas tank was washed into it, they realized they needed to get out quickly. This could only be achieved by diving into the flood waters, swimming beneath barrels floating in the cellars, and kicking out a window, through which they were washed by the floodwaters. Carried downstream they eventually found refuge in a tree just outside Dernau. There they stayed for seven hours before being rescued the next morning. Their mother believes the tree that became their refuge was one that had been planted by their grandfather.. ❤️

Saperavi... that was tough. Yet, all critics paid their attention to very intense wine colour, that should lead them to the right conclusion.

Tough grape to throw in randomly in a double-blind tasting! Saperavis age very well thanks to the tannins and acidity :)

The Villacreces Pruno is a very youthful wine and I get the syrah and New World aspect for sure. However, they should have been closer given more of the ancillary notes. I get a deep clay soil. I don't get a dynamic topography. The vines are so young, I'd give anyone a pass on this wine. Lots of stems too. Great video! Also, this is an Eric Solomon product, so it has to fit that importer profile

It would be great to see some Turkish wines on next tastings. There are some indigenous grapes would be challenging.
