I’m more of a Shield man for Micros but I have to once again give love to the GX4 Toro. It’s a wonderful little pistol. Again, mine wasn’t part of the recall and if it was my opinion may well be different. As it stands I’ve had a very good experience with the platform.

The only time I've shot one was at a range, and it was a rental. Dude...! THAT trigger!!! When HK introduced the VP9, they turned me into a trigger snob. But the trigger in that Shield Plus was just... gungasmic! Such short range of travel, just a tap to break the wall, and right back in front of the reset again. All soooo smooth. I literally had to force myself to slow it down. Range officer giving me dirty looks, and I only had 150 rounds of ammo.

I got an original Shield 3 months before the Plus came out. Great gun. But capacity led me to the Ruger Security 9 compact with the 15 round magazine after a few months. Then I injured my right shoulder. So I got a Plus frame and swapped the slide and internals over, and reversed the mag release to carry lefty. I've since put a 2.0 PC 4-inch slide on it and use the 15 round magazine that was released with the Equalizer. Original internals and trigger, 2.0 slide and barrel, Plus frame = Frankenstein Plus.

I got the P938, 2 weeks ago today, it was a difficult choice comparing it and the CSX. I actually like the grip on the CSX better than the Sig, it was the sights, Sig all the way, and the negative reviews on the trigger of the CSX, that made me go with the P938. I have big hands but they are thin & long.

I picked the Masada Slim. It fits my hand perfectly. Uses all my CZ 75 mags as well. It is one of the few that does not use the magazine as part of the grip. That has become a bad habit of the manufacturers. Just another issue that can be avoided.

Just for educational purpose... why would that be an issue? You know... the magazine fit into the grip.
@jefferytillis8309
@jefferytillis8309 9 ай бұрын
@@goran5088 Pressure on the magazine has been known to cause feeding issues in the past. It also requires changing your grip for a magazine change. Adding the possibility of getting your hand pinched during a rapid reload. I don't even get the logic of making the grip shorter than the shortest magazine. The shortest magazine should be pretty much flush fit with a flat floor plate. The longer grip also adds to safer handling at all times.

I have the GX4 and my favorite thing about it is the versatility. I just bought the XL TORO conversion kit for $200 bucks which allows me to get an XL without having to buy another gun, literally 1 frame, 2 guns. I picked up 2 13rd extended mags to compliment the 2 standard ones and I'm going to swap the sights to truglo night sights. That's a lot of combinations of barrel length and ammo capacity to play with for around $500, or, the price of just a hellcat.

Ninjii, awesome choice and plan! Only recommendation that I can make, is really vet that XL slide before you depend on it. Like, at least 600 rounds. There's people with issues on the XL slides, and the XL models. It seems like it's a crapshoot. You either get a good one, or ya don't. Make sure that yours is reliable, ok? Again, awesome plan man 👍

I wont carry the xl I just want it for the range as the standard GX4 is very snappy and not very fun to shoot. @@ninji522 Nijnii - I agree. It would be like having two different guns, at the slide of a... well... slide. LOL. Hmmm. In regards to what you're saying about it being snappy. I currently own a Canik TP9 Elite SC, FN Reflex(not mrd) and just picked up a Shield Plus that is optics ready and has front and rear night sights. All three guns are great in my opinion. I'm only going to keep the Shield though. I just find it a bit quicker to get sights lined up after each shot. I shoot the Shield Plus and Reflex about the same even though their triggers are so different and one is striker vs internal hammer. The Shield Plus I picked up as a bundle with 5 mags, a bug out bag and a first aid kit for $429 which is a steal for the features on the gun alone which, normally cost $600 with those features. The Reflex and Shield Plus are almost identical in size and both conceal well in summer clothing. I don't think you can go wrong with either gun and if you're leaning towards the Reflex over the Shield because of the rail that the Reflex has, consider you can get a rail adapter kit from Recover Tactical for the Shield Plus for $29.99. I would try to rent both guns and see which one suits you better before buying.

Your idea of budget-friendly and mine are not the same. I checked these guns (except the Stoeger, which they don't carry) at my favorite gunstore website, and the only one that wasn't over $400 was the Taurus. A few of them were over $500. The Taurus G2s and G3s were under $300, so if I was to buy a smaller 9mm I would go with one of them over the GX4. But still an interesting video, and I appreciate the warnings on which guns to pass by.

I recently bought one of these, lowered the rear sight all the way down and it's money. I really like the gun, half the cost of a 365.

I don't like, and don't get the idea if some of these micro 9's, when what they do to make it smaller is primarily shorten the barrel/slide. That's not the part that is really exposed, or is harder to conceal. But it does make them harder to shoot accurately, fast, and or comfortably. I'd rather take a 4"-4.5" barrel/slide setup, with a medium sized grip. Something like a M&P 9 2.0, CZ P10-C, Walther PDP/PPQ Compact, or even a Sig P365 X-Macro (Preferably the unported version).

I have the GX4 and had no issues before or after the recall. As far as the recall goes my P365 was recalled for the same issue. My GX4 shoots as good if not better than my P365 with no issues ever. Both have close to 1,000 rds each.

I learned to shoot pistols on service size sidearms. My first pistol I bought as soon as I turned 21 was a Beretta 92fs. I learned shooting pistols on full sized grip frames. Breaking grip to load mags is really annoying to me. And a 2 finger grip, noooo way. But I like compacts. I really like that size and weight. Throw an extended mag, or one with a baseplate with a pinky horn, and I'm ok with it.

Bro, I’ll bring the [adult beverages], you bring the toys for show and talk! First, we debate! (I like hook triggers!) then I pick your brain (what’s with all the micros??). But I’d like to get your take on the compacts out there. CZ 75C is my jam. Plus a few (dozen) others I like. You’ve got a good approach to this. Thanks for the energy you put into it. We do appreciate guys like you!

The Gx4 just had a pretty big drop safe recall recently, and the one I rented at my range had a catastrophic failure a few shots in.. I’m good on Taurus. When guns like the cz p10s/c, IWI Masada/masada slim, stoeger, canik, shield plus are available for around the same price idk why someone would choose a taurus at this point.

There are several videos documenting the failures and problems with the Canik MC9. I am by no means a Taurus fan, having one of the original PT111 making 3 trips back to Taurus, and they still could never get it right. Having said that, if my only choice was between the Taurus GX4 or Canik MC9, I would take the Taurus GX4 in a heartbeat.
@2aTommy

@@gracedagostino5231 I have a MC9 with 2,400 rounds through it without one problem. I also know there’s a lot of people complaining about them online that don’t even own one, so I take it with a grain of salt. From what I’ve seen all the problems with the MC9 have been easily fixed by requesting a new recoil spring. The gx4 at my range went back several times too and never got fixed either. I’d take my MC9 10/10 times over the gx4. I’m not denying anyone’s had problems with the MC9, but I’d take needing a new recoil spring over a gun that has drop safe issues that I’ve personally had a catastrophic failure with rendering it completely broken two shots in.

You certainly make a good case, but this guy just loves the Taurus GX4, and never mentions the serious issues with it. You have had tremendous success with your Canik MC9, many have not. There are many other problems with the MC9, than just the recoil spring, as many don't trust its reliability. Many people even refuse to carry it. Just google it, and you will see the different problems with it. I carry a Glock 26, with Trijicon HD Night/Fiber Sights, as I'm not going to risk my life with crap like Taurus or Canik. Lol, even at just 20cents a round, you have spent a minimum of $500.00 on ammo for your Canik MC9, and your concerned about saving a measly $100 on a quality pistol? @@2aTommy

Have to chime in here in alight disagreement. I own a Shield Plus and it's a great gun but I find it hard to hang on to. For some reason I can't get any support hand leverage on it. So although it's tried and true, if you can't manage the recoil well, it's not the right one. Soooo, I opted for the MC2SC and I really like it. It's been very reliable, gives me just a bit more grip and I shoot it better. Have yet to have a failure of any kind and it's as accurate as any ccw I own. So I would absolutely recommend it as a consideration. Everyone is a little different, but I would never opt for a stoeger over the Mossberg. Even the Taurus would be tough for me to recommend over the MC.
