This is an awesome tutorial. Thank you for saving me hundreds of dollars. To me, this is what DIY is all about. Getting the effect you want with alternate methods, instead of buying a specialized tool for every little thing.

I'm so glad you found my video and my channel!!! I always look for the best and least expensive ways to do things. Besides not needing a machine, you can't put a picture frame or a jar through a machine but this way you can foil things like that....not just cards. I have other videos on using transfer foil (Deco Foil) that you might like as well. And if you like DIY projects you really need to scroll through my videos. Thank you so much Jo.....you are so sweet! I have been foiling for about 10 years.....before I ever heard of the machines or other expensive ways to do it. I didn't make this video until I heard about the other ways and thought I would let my viewers know of a less expensive way. I have another video that might interest you, and I think I have it linked on the end screen of this video and in the description box below this video. It's called 5 More Ways To Use Deco Foil WITHOUT A MACHINE. I have a playlist on my channel with all of my Deco Foil / Transfer Foil Techniques in it......some however show using a laminator or iron or even how to apply it to fabric (washable). I'm not sure if any of those would interest you but just wanted you to know. One thing I love about not using a machine or laminator is that I can add foil to dimensional projects that would never be able to fit in a machine. I have used this on home decor items and not just cards. There are so many possibilities. I hope you have fun foiling and be sure to watch my other video to learn 5 more ways. I bought a BUNCH of "deco foil" (in a bundle) with some Cricut transfer tools. I did not know They are NOT compatible. I was VERY HAPPY to see Janie's video. I now have some great ideas how to use my deco foil without a machine. Great Job Janie, you made me feel a ton better!

Oh my.... you have just changed my cardmaking life! Although I had heard of the double-sided tape method of foiling, I had never heard of or see any of the others. I am so thrilled and excited. I was foiling before there ever was a machine for doing it, so when I heard people complaining about having to get a machine, I thought I would share some ways to foil without a machine. Also there are so many things I like to foil that won't fit through a machine, like jars, frames, and the decor pieces I made in yesterday's video. Hi Jeanne! As you can see, you don't need a foil machine OR a laminator to use the foil. And I have several other videos on using foil that might interest you, including one that will be up tomorrow and one that is from about a month ago. Thank you, Janie. I saw the other foiling video before I knew about this one. It's also very helpful. I'm sorry to hear you don't like the MINC foil (or that it's your least favorite) because another You Tuber showed new stuff at Tuesday Morning recently and they've got tons of MINC foils and products. I appreciate your opinion, though, and will still clear of the MINC.

Thankl you so much!!! I'm so glad you like this and it was helpful for you. I have been using transfer foil for YEARS.....before I ever heard of using a machine.....and wanted to share that. I personal have never bought a MINC machine or any machine just for foiling.....but I do own a laminator that I can use for this if I want. But not all crafts can fit through a laminator....LOL....so these methods work best. However I do have a few other videos on using transfer foil (Deco Foil) that might interest you. I have other videos on using transfer foil too....one more that does't using use a machine (unless you consider an iron an machine...lol) and my newest ones that require a laminator, You can get laminator for under $20 on Amazon (about the same cost as a paper pack). They are worth watching if you want to learn more about uses for transfer foils. I hope you enjoy them and I hope you find other videos of mine helpful too :) Hugs...Janie

Vicki thank you so much for watching....I'm so glad my video was helpful for you! I started using transfer foil about 8 years ago when I got the YuDu screen printer. Provo Craft sold transfer foil that could be used with it and I decided to find other ways to use it. I had never heard of a machine for transfer foil and not even sure they had come up with one yet......and when I did hear about the machine it was such a big deal. I didn't want to buy the machine and finally decided I should make this video for other people that didn't want to buy a machine but wanted to use the foil. I guess it was a good decision because it has helped many people like yourself and that makes me so happy! One of the things I like most about these techniques is you are not limited to flat things that would fit through a machine.....you can do this on jars and frames and so many dimensional projects. Also just think off all the things that CAN"T go through a machine.....like a picture frame or trinket box, etc (by the way, I just did a Paris themed trinket box and used Deco Foil....I hope you watch). There is another one that didn't get in the video and only works for certain techniques....glue sticks (not hot glue but the sticky kind that you use to glue things). I show it in a video I will have out next month (part of a project), and also show it in a video I did a couple weeks ago (Heart Wall Hanging). There are just things that can't go through a machine even if I had one (I actually have a laminator I use for some other foil techniques). Also I have a video on how to apply Deco Foil to fabric (and it's washable). Just look in my Playlists for all of my Deco Foil videos in on place. Thank you so much for posting this video. I've been wanting to use the foil stuff for a long time, but don't want to invest in machine's and stuff just to do it. So many people think it's much more complicated or that they need to buy expensive machines but it's not true. Even when I do use a machine it's a laminator.....I refuse to buy an expensive foiling machine. So my goal is to make crafting easy and affordable. Love your finished black gold CLASSY card. Just enjoying your video shares not just this one as I hunt for others experiences with different ways to achieve foiling. I read recently that foiling is no longer the rage. HA HA HA to them. It most certainly is. Your classy card proves how great it is. Upscale not too fussy too. My personality leans toward clean simple lines and designs without too over the top fuss and muss. So many card making designer and companies take to to the too much stage in an attempt I suppose to sell more stuff. But the great thing is we all can make it our own and reject what isn't US and take with us the bits that are. Celebrating our differences and the magic that makes us all individuals. Keep up your videos I need to catch up to more you have to offer. Kudos to you. Everyone stay safe.

I totally agree with you about liking the simpler things.....if you watch enough of my videos you will see I'm not an "over the top" kind of crafter. But yes.....I think we can watch videos and take what we like and leave what we don't and create what is our own style. When I first started on KZfaq (and my first design team) I felt like my cards were so plain compared to those that make cards that don't fit in envelopes. It took me awhile to realize that there were people out there that appreciated my style and that there was nothing wrong with what I did.....it was just a simpler style that is perfect for beginners but that can still give the advanced cardmaker some inspiration. I was using foil before they came out with the machines and so I thought I would share some techniques for those that don't have a machine, don't want to buy a machine, or want to foil things that won't fit throught a machine (which is what I do a lot). I have other videos on foiling and also have a couple planned for the near future that might interest you.....plus I have projects that I have used it on even though the title of the videos may not reflect that. Thank you. I have a laminator but I have been doing it without a machine for years because when I started using transfer foil it was for my YuDu screen printing and I just started experimenting. At that time I had never heard of a machine to do this with. So I agree....these other ways are fun and offer more creative options.....especially if you wanted to add this to a jar or frame that you obviously couldn't put through a machine :) Hugs...Janie

Thank you for this video. It is very informative and I was wondering if the flitter glu washes off your stamps without a problem. I have several stamps I’d love to use the foil with but don’t want to ruin my stamps. Thank you so much. I love all your videos and you do a great job of explaining everything

Thank you so much for watching! Flitter Glu is made for stamping......it is not a regular glue....it is non-toxic and water based.....it cleans up nicely. They advertise it as the "best glue for flake and glitter stamping".....and as you see in my video it works for foiling as well. You don't use much (as I showed) and it is tacky. However, as with ANY stamping, I wouldn't let it sit on my stamps....I always clean my stamps right away. I hope this eases your mind. Enjoy your foiling :) Hugs...Janie

Oh wow....thank you sooooo much for your sweet comment and for watching!!! I'm so glad you like this!!! I discovered all these techniques BEFORE they ever came out with the machines and before I had ever heard of Deco Foil or MINC or anything. I was using YuDu transfer foil that was for applying to t-shirts and stuff and decided to see if it would work other ways....and it did!!! Even though I'm very familiar with all these methods on adhering foil, I still got inspired to do this again! I have a lot of fun foils and it really does make cards pop! Although I will say I had never heard of flitter glue, which is a surprise to me! I really like how that turned out, the fact you can use it on stamps - just like you said! I'll need to look for that 😁❤

Sad to say Flitter Glu is no longer available.....but I have been playing around with something else for a couple years and should make another video 😊 As you can tell this video is pretty old and products come and go. I have been doing this long before foil machines came around and then after the machines came out and people were complaining about the cost I decided to do this video and later another one. I'm sure there are many ways to use foil without a machine and I bet you even have some ideas you can share with me 😊💗🤗 Hugs....Janie

@@emmkaa2099 Foiling without a machine is perfect for mixed media and things you wouldn't or couldn't put through a machine. I'm so happy you are getting some inspiration. Montana!! **Heavy Sigh** which is weird cuz although I've never even been there I used to think I'd like to live there, not that I don't now... want to live there I mean. Anyway, I was playing with foil in the wee hours this morning and came up with a question for you, but as the hours were indeed 'wee' and I haven't had much sleep I can't remember exactly what it was. 🤪 Next time I play in my foil (that I got for $1 at Walmart) I'll figure out my question and get back to you.
