Aways enjoy your videos, you offer up some great insights, speaking as someone a couple of generations ahead of you, your thoughts on lifestyle and people's goals until they reach 25 are great and mirror some things I recall talking about with friends when we reached 25. One thought I noticed your talk fast through the video, are you doing that deliberately to keep the total time done, or am I just old and listen slower? You might want to pace differently and include a bullet list of your points on slide at the beginning and end and check of your points as you go. that helps us old people remember

I appreciate the insight 🙏 really this is just how I talk and with information value based videos like this I try to stay very precise with my message and delivery. Maybe I could loosen up a bit though, and also KZfaq has a good tool to slow videos to slower speeds or faster depending on preference

Evan. Wow. This is awesome! On the one hand, you bring to light things we should all know (and do) already - but on the other hand, listening to it and watching you explain it, here, is affirmation on a level that speaks clearly to us. It really does. Thank you. Look - this is going to be a reference video for me (seriously). I'm also going to forward it to other photographers I know. As an older photographer, I try to do these things already. Trust me - as you age, you'll become more cognizant of your time and energy -- and to your point, where you place them -- and probably more importantly, where you don't place them. Surround yourself with people who'll challenge you - but understand you. Stop chasing "other stuff" and stop chasing other people. Man, I gotta tell you - saying no is such a load off. I can remember when I was one who wouldn't say no - but as you've mentioned; doing so puts you in control of you -- and more times than not, opens the door to something else that's yes-worthy. Your number 1 is the take-away. It's the summary statement of this video - although all 7 are cornerstones, number 1 shoudl be the baseline principle. Great video. This is a keeper. All the best to you for continued success in 2023!

This was freaking awesome! You couldn't have said it any better bro. Someone I really looked up to told me one day "stop giving a F*ck what other people have to say or think about you, and that's when your life will change". If lived by this ever since. Ironic part, I actually have a video very similar to this one dropping in about 1hr 1/2! Keep killing it man! You're and inspiration!

Hey Evan, I have a question. I do both nature and street photography and I want to know if it’s a good idea to put both on my square space website. I mean , I already did but I never thought about it if that’s something I should or shouldn’t do. I can always fix it. I did organized them by category though. It’s not messy. Both nature and street is something I truly love doing.

I’m an architectural photographer and recently I went to a universal resort. I posted them on Instagram and they liked 7 of them and asked to use them on their social media. I of course said yes without hesitation. Everyone said I shouldn’t give my work away for free, I agree but at the same time I think they’ll just go to someone else to get pictures and I doubt I could ever get compensation unless it’s printing for them. I wrong?

My best form of growth as a photography was beginning to sell online on a *quality* platform. After switching between a few, Pic-Time worked out most in my favor. Spent way too much time with other platforms (SmugMug and Pixieset) that just didn’t lead me to where I wanted to be.

On the consumption vs creation of social media… If it’s so terrible for you, why are you interested in making more of the supposed instrument of other peoples suffering?

This is a valid critique and I needed to speak more clearly. Social media is only bad if you don’t have the discipline to only consume what’s good for you. If you make art, and share it. While at the same time only consume art for inspiration without comparison.. then by all means go for it. I just think in general (myself included) it’s difficult to do that and not get sucked into content that’s detrimental to your mental health in some way
