Aye, I still remember the GW associate that told me about a new Master Engineer character. And the 8 peaks king. So I was sold for the 8th edition Army book. Along with more miniatures to add to my 6th edition Dwarf Army. Was a nice Army book.

So I always thought the anvil of doom was super over costed until I actually brought it… the ability to add a dispel and power dice for free is pretty big, especially when you can six dice your bound spells and wreak havoc with that 2d6 str4 and giving a unit +1 armour is really strong, makes hammerers super potent. I cast my bound spells every turn. Mind you I don’t like playing a gun line dwarf army because that isn’t fun to play against for most folks and the anvil could be cheaper, but it’s actually really fun to use. Thanks for the review man loving this series!

18:08 kinda sums up the Dwarf army book lol. I remember when this book came out and the big selling point was that Dwarves can now use magic! Unfortunately the spells are terrible :P Thanks for these reviews Steve, really enjoying them.

Old resolute (which the Chaos Dwarfs ironically still have) was a negative special rule where they flee/pursue 1 less. The new one is one of the best bonuses in the game. This book has so many cool and narrative choices that you will never take because they are not gunline. Always take the shields because 5++ parry. Longbeards open up the very small niche to take other HQs over a BSB. Daemon Slayers also have the Dragon Slayer special rule. Steve omits Rangers but while they are better quarrellers for the same price they are Rare so you don't take them. The Rune of stone ironically is the exception to the rule of pride.

I still have a few 3erd edition Dwarfs with spears. Makes sense, a defensive weapon? I am so happy I got 3 boxes of Blood Axe Pass. I have all the thunderers I need. ;). With the collection from back in the days. Found a great deal on eBay, got a preprinted 4th edition Organ Gun for $12.00 US. I need to put it in a dip, and repaint it sometime.

One thing about miners with blasting charges is that you can stand and shoot with them if they are charged.

Dwarf lord on shieldbearers, great weapon, runes of ironx2 and rune of preservation, then 3 runes of warding. 115 points, 5 wounds, 2+/4++ and 2++ against KB and str 6 (I4 is going last against other lords anyways). This dude is a tank and you either put him with ironbreakers so that you give up almost no CR, or Hammerers to avoid challenges and focus on smashing infantry who likely can't hurt him (why take risks?)

Oh and miner blasting charges are quick to fire so show up in front and get in their faces fast, then toss bombs when they charge. Maybe only take 10 or 12 in the unit since it's being setup to die.

I always wanted a dwarf army back in the day of WHFB, over the last year I've been gather used miniatures to cobble together the army

I did feel the problem of the grudge rule to, I think to balance it they should have given a reroll for it, or they should have had each unit role for there hatred, first level is unit hates general, the second is characters and the third is the full army for that unit. with each unit rolling you'd get the big buff more often, while making it less impactful, would also be neat to see some characters get a bonus for the dwarfs so special characters from other races can give a bonus to the roll, maybe even for only certain characters, while also allowing a unit like slayers to automatically hate enemy monsters, double so for a daemon slayer or dragon slayer

I started in 2021, I built my force out of 3 start collecting boxes and an eBay lot, which I was very lucky to get for the price I did. It is doable, but it requires patience and luck to not break the bank.

WoC book next please

Dwarves were OP and I always hated dwarves playstyle of being not only good at being defensive having their hairy butt on their war machines and shooting but also being almost unmatched in melee by most other army books. They had no magic but they were still good at dispelling and they had Runes. And the lack of mobility wasn't and issue because their play style is just to fall asleep drinking beer and burping on their hills while the canons snipes all threats. Thunderers obliterating anything with stand and shoot. One of the best army of 8th edition, which was still good in the hand of bad/inexperienced players and agonizingly good if you were a good player. 100% would completely remake the army book entirely.

3d Printing is now the option if you want to have club games as they wont be GW legal, but i dont think they would be putting on 8th edition events, even with the new world coming out, they wont be reprinting discontinued lines, there is a few designers out there, i think the main person would be Kyoushuneko Miniatures,

The Age of Sigmar box set is a decent start. You can also use belegar Ironhammer.

First army, first love :) I always found the infantry is so good that people make worse lists because they think they need multiple war machines

My personal rune and gear loadout for my blender lord is as follows: Gear: Shieldbearers, Shield Weapon: Master rune of Snorri, Rune of Parrying, Rune of Might Armour: Rune of Iron (2), Rune of Stone For a total of 313pts, this gets you a 0+ AS and 6W, always hits on 2+, always wounds on at least 4+ vs T8 or lower, and a -1 to hit vs you, so most likely a 4+ to hit you at worst vs most other enemies. Excellent blender lord with a good balance of offense and defense. If you have any suggestions to improve, feel free to let me know.

Mantic Games seems a solid place to get dwarves :) their mega army has most of what you want for fantasy bar slayers, the rest you need you can still buy on GW :)

Just use Volkite beserkers as the Slayers they are just the same thing afterall.

This reminded me how much I want to make a small(ish) Dwarf army for Warhammer Fantasy. Specifically a fluffy one, based around the poorly equipped (for a dwarf anyway) defenders of a dwarf town, with like... half the points spent on the gyrocopter/bomber force arriving to save them. Would be devastating against some armies, and kinda trash vs others I think XD

You can also use fyreslayers as slayers. But yeah, the core is missing.

The problem with the 8th edition book was 3 fold: 1: Almost all magic weapons, Runic, regular and those wielded by Special Characters, were both horrendously bad and overpriced : The Hammer of Karak Drazh, Thorgrim Grudgebearer's weapon and all the extremely situational weapon runes like the Runes of Deamon slaying for example. In my 18 years of Warhammer Fantasy I've never seen an army book with magic weapons that bad. If you combine that with the fact that Dwarfs are supposed to be the undisputed masters of making said weapons it makes it twice as dissapointing. 2. Moving the Gyrocopter to Special and making the unit a 2 for 1 choice left the gates open for Gyrocopter spam that was incredibly obnoxious and OP to play against. 3. The less said about the paperweight that was the Anvil of Doom the better.

Weirdly Chaos Dorfs have the -1 pursuit and flee.

I was so disappointed when this army book came out and remain salty about it to this day. Castling in the corner with war machines remained the meta. Movement speed remained thematically low. Yuck. Irondrakes and Strollaz were the only highlights for me.

your audio is so quiet i had to turn my speaker volume up by 5x where it starts in order to hear you and listening to anything alongside your video is impossible because your video maxed and any other youtube video at the same time at minimum volume still overpowers your audio totally, please check your sound balance before you upload because this is ridiculous and watching a two hour video without music is kinda shit in 2021
