I remember as a kid when my sister lived in Edmonton....., so you'd go visit her for what ever reason. the most boring part of that trip was the moment you entered the "no radio zone" you push the seek button on the radio and she'd just keep going round, an round, and round...,this of course was Looooooooooooong before apple iPhones were ever a thing LOL

Glow plugs when cold, triple heat them, I.e. turn ignition on, wait for glow plug light to go out, immediately turn off and on again, wait for glow plug light to go out, then repeat again, soon as light goes out - no delay try to start straight away. Key is getting the cylinder hot so it starts.

Cold start ? Here in Australia I jumped I'm my fire truck (every farm has a fire truck) It was parked in the sun on a 46C* and we got a call Started it up and the engine was already nearly at operating temp Inside the cab was so hot we drove the first 2km to the fire with our feet jammed in the doors to keep them open

Yea but its all backwards to you guys So summer is our dry barren months Everything is dead and there's nothing growing temps vary from 20 to 40*c during the day and 5 to 30*c at night Temps go as high as 47 but probably only once every few yrs Then winter is wet and that's when we grow our crops everything is green from roughly April to October Temps are 5 to 20 daytime and 0 to 10 nightie It's very rare to go below freezing Maybe 2 nights a year

A retired diesel engineer from the armed forces told me that once you have your diesel started for 5-10 mins, the best is to put them under a light load until it is warmed up. Letting it run for 30+mins does not make sense
@wssides

Same advice for a gasoline engine. Read your owners manual on anything newer than about 1960. Start them, run till it is idling smoothly and drive moderately until up to operating temperature. Obviously if you are hooked to a load or have to immediately plow snow or mud or go up a steep hill you need a bit of idle warm-up. When the windows are frosted or iced that needs removal. Various ways to do that but the hardest on the engine is to run it till the heater/defroster removes the ice.

I watch your videos and I was wondering when I might get to chime in, so here goes! The next time you want to start a cold Honda generator you will need a tarp like the kind you can buy anywhere at a tractor supply store, say a blue one. Take the generator over to a vehicle, say your truck, or it could be a car. Set the generator about 2 feet from the exhaust. Pull the tarp over the side of the truck box and tuck the tarp around the truck exhaust making sure it does not come into contact with that hot exhaust. Then wrap the tarp around the generator creating a tunnel of hot exhaust blowing into that generator. Move the tarp around so as not to melt the tarp to the truck exhaust or any of the plastic that covers the generator. Let your truck or vehicle idle inside that tarp for about 20 minutes to a half hour. That generator or snowblower or whatever will start up like it’s summertime. Make sure you always treat your fuel with sea foam and use premium fuel. I treat mine 1 ounce to the gallon. You could also use this same technique on that Tractor if your tarp was big enough.😀 I was the owner of a landscape, lawn care, snow plowing and snow removal business. This trick worked for me when the temp was 30 below and the wind chill factor was 50 below.All of my equipment stayed exposed to the elements, only being they were covered with a tarp to keep the snow off of them. I used all Honda equipment. Thanks, take care and stay safe😀

South Sask Farmer has a short loop in one of their remotes that when it's cold, once you start the tractor turn on that remote and it circulates the hydraulic fluid.
@petermolnar8667
@petermolnar8667 3 жыл бұрын
We have an older air cooled tractor, which uses hydraulic fluid for heating. So it has an adjustable valve on the pump, and if you close it to some extent it helps the oil warm up quicker by restricting flow. Point I'm trying to make is that it'll build up more heat if there's some restriction in the loop 🤔

MAN engines are basically from their truck/semi line of engines adapted to tractors and other machines. It is the reason they have lower top RPM as they are designed for max torque and HP under 2000 RPM, but they last a long time. I worked with a road milling machine that had two MAN 600 HP engines in tandem and the whistle of turbines was sweeeet.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised that tractor was that difficult to start. According to Google, -25C is -13F, which isn't awfully cold in the scheme of things. We got down to about that here a couple of weeks ago, and granted, the highs were up around 10F (-12C), but the tractors fired up just fine so long as the block heaters were plugged in. One or two cranks and they'd fire on all cylinders right away. Definitely glad we don't deal with it on a regular basis, though. That was an anomaly down here.
@deutz450

The Difference between -12°C and -25°C is night and day, but i agree, it starts surprisingly bad. I own the great-grandfather of this tractor, a 1969 Fendt Farmer 3S, it starts at -20°C after glowing, without preheating or things like that (preheaters not very common in germany).

Yes it rolls the bag onto a drum, but to do another bad you have to remove the first bag, 2 bags don’t fit on extractor, roll it up to unroll it when done is annoying & engineered mistake to me.
