I have two kids with ADHD and most of those things work for them as well, especially fidgeting toys and weighted blankets!

the magnetic drawing pad is so cool, someone drew that as a representation for a nonverbal character's signs once (the character was from minecraft and spoke through writing on signs in the canon story), and i think for a quick alternative to an ipad or a pencil and paper it's good for communication! and also, just keeping entertained very good video! i also adore how soft, gentle, yet catchy the intro card is. stimmy to hear and is unique and not flashy or loud like some other channels, which makes sense as this is an autism-focused channel :D

@@AutismFamilyChannel if it were me, I’d bring a discreet fidget toy (eg small pop it or marble and mesh) to fidget with in long lines or in restaurants (I’m 17, autistic, and HATE waiting 😅)

I usually take fidget toys, I have quite a number of fidget toys. I also take a sensory brush or two. I also take a weighted blanket, vest, or lap pad. I also have to bring something with music, because I am a person who hast to have music. It can be a CD with my favorite songs on it, or sometimes I download music on my phone, or even something as simple as my favorite musical instrument

I am 29 and I have autism and mild IDD. When I was on risperidone when I was 14 it made me the same way, really sleepy and really hungry. My mom was a bit late at getting me off the risperidone because it made me gain weight because of me being really sleepy and really hungry. I was not myself on risperidone. Thankfully I am not on risperidone anymore, I take medication that works way better for me.

um concerning the meds, what kind of meds are they? I'm curious but also worried cuz i remember when i was first diagnosed with autism, the dr offered to give me drugs to subdue my autism, of course my mam refused thankfully cuz she knew that the drugs would've turned me into a zombifide drug addict, remember guys, never give your children drugs to subdue they're autism, autism is a neurological learning spectrum, not a disease, nor is it a retardation and those on the autism spectrum like me are wonderful just the way we are, regardless of race, color, sex, sexuality and religion, k? thank you.
