I built this $800 gaming PC with an RX 5700, & 16GB of RAM, and tested it in Fortnite, PUBG, Rocket League, Borderlands 3, Overwatch, Apex Legends, The Witcher 3, & League of Legends. I also tested both a Ryzen 5 2600 and Intel Core i5-9400F in this build to see which option performed better.

Hey Brent, Awesome build! I like this parts list better than another video I just watched. Though I like the Lian Li case that video used cuz it has two huge 200mm fans in the front mesh grill. Guts from your build in that case 😁👍 sigh, sorry long segway… I’m looking to build something like this, would Valhalla fair the same as the demanding category games listed? At this point I’m only interested in 1080p ultra settings. I envision down the road bumping up the CPU/GPU if that mobo can take higher.

You can just go with a 1600AF for $85 same performance as a 2600.Nice job btw

Wow, thanks for the heads up on this! Looks like the 1600AF flew under the radar for awhile. Will have to pick one up and test it out... but with that performance at that price, not sure there's any other CPU option worth considering for budget builds. Hopefully more people find out about it and we see the 2600, 3600, and 9400F drop in price as a result.

How much of this build was aesthetic, like the case? Is it ok to use cheaper cases that aren’t as eye pleasing? Also, forgive my ignorance, but I’m regards to monitor, what about using a lcd tv?

28 Jan 2021, Just read your "7 Best Budget Graphics Cards for 2021" and wondered where you found the Gigabyte RX 5500 XT 8GB for under $200. I checked the price today on Amazon (and elsewhere) and saw $472 and up. Even the XFX AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB Core Edition RX-550P4SFG5 was listed on Amazon at $248 -- used -- 2.5 times the "sub-$100" listed in your article.

Which drive do you have the emulator installed on? If not your main drive, this is an easy fix. Main drive would be much more involved and I don't care to get into that. So, if it's not your main drive, you should be safe to format it, If everything on it is backed up, or can be replaced. You don't want to lose things that can't be replaced.

Ryzen platform is also more secure and has great upgradability for the future. And has PCI-e 4.0 support.

Traditionally, they've been solid. I think they had some problems with a couple versions of their RX 5700s and/or 5700 XTs at release, but the one I have is working just fine.

Depends on what you want to do or what do you want to build with your system. Let's say for example you get an i7 8700k and want to overclock in high clocks of 4.8ghz consistently, then you'll need a beefy cooler for it and you'll use more wattage. But let's say you only want a 1660 ti with a ryzen 5 2600, and you'll just leave the Cpu and GPU at base clock, then you'll be fine with even a 550 w Bronze PSU. It all depends entirely on you and the efficiency of the PSU.
