I built my own a year ago and I still want to build another one. It is so much fun watching your work come together.

I usually build a new PC every 4-5 years & build them to never need upgrades during that time, perform well at a specific resolution & use top-notch, carefully researched components that are built to last (such as high-end, enterprise-class, data-center SSD's instead of the cheaper, shorter-life consumer-grade ones). Choosing the exact brands/models of components always makes a self-built PC better than the pre-built ones - which always have some suspect components, etc. etc.

One note on futureproofing: that Cyberpower has a super cheap A620 motherboard in it. That will constrain future CPU upgrades or other expansion of use cases. Given that someone down the line sees a need to upgrade that CPU, getting a new motherboard would at least be a strong consideration. So a B550 build is less disadvantaged in this respect

Got a pc from Alexander PC a bit ago. It has the ryzen 7 7800x3d cpu, 4070ti super, 32 gigs of ram running at 6000 Mhz. I'd say it's just as good if not better than anything i could build myself. Not to mention, their reputation is astounding for a prebuilt botique builder. Lifetime warranty too.

Single stick ram, I'll pass.

Beautiful job dude!!! I love that case! I was able to build a similar rig, except I went for am5, with a 7600x/b650/32gb ddr5 5600/1tb nvme/7800xt/corsair cx750m psu right around $1070. Probably the best price to performance you can get going with current gen platform.

Depends on the motherboard and bios pretty much, and how much it can be tweaked.

Usually, any gaming PC isn't first one for most users. It means that you can transfer your Windows license from old PC to the new one.

The $17 Thermalright Cooler is fine for a 5600X even with an overclock. It kept a 2600 that was drawing 114W to stay around 51C under stress testing with the included TF-4 paste. Their 3 for $15 ARGB fans are pretty good and you just stick one on the cooler. I have had both an XPG DDR4 kit and an XPG NVMe drive fail on me. Yeah, they replaced them under warranty but I probably won't buy any more of their products. I would buy a Thermaltake Smart series white rated PSU before I would buy this one. At least I know two of them held up to the strain of mining for a couple of years and still work fine. GN tested them. They are fully protected and won't damage your hardware if they do happen to fail. I don't know that about this XPG PSU. Still, I prefer EVGA PSUs. I used a bunch of them when I was mining and they were totally reliable. I also know that EVGA PSUs have proper circuit protections. Some are better than others but you get what you pay for.

I’m going to buy the parts to build my own then just pay a local pc tech to help me with the build so I can learn and not mess anything up. What I’m really looking for is being able to upgrade the GPU in the future

Always build the PC yourself, never buy a Pre built

i think the custom-built pc has significantly better aesthetics, ngl, i way prefer the way the fans look through a mesh front panel and the consistency in "texture" (for lack of a better word) and color with the custom pc

620 mobo, single stick ram, more restricted airflow, higher priced GPU, 500 gb storage, and they get these parts cheaper then any regular person but I also understand they have to make a profit otherwise they wouldn't be in business. I'll pass, would rather spec and build my own, they could have at least put in two sticks on a B650 mobo with 1TB storage for this price and probably still made a good profit.

in performance, you didn't comment that the cyberpower pc is running with a single stick of ram, which makes the cpu run in single channel. The other system is running two sticks of ram, which allows the processor to run in dual channel mode, which makes the built system run with better performance. you need to add a stick of ram to the cyberpower system to make the comparison fair and equal, otherwise your test results are skewed.

As someone who has never been to US, i find this interesting. Apart from the single unit of Ram on the pre build, i find this deal quite appealing and fair for someone who is not familiar with building or simply dont wanna mess with it for any reasons. I am kinda surprised because in my country most companies offering prebuilds, they are straight up thieves. not only they try to sell older technologies into sneaky ways, like old cards or old proccessors with other modern parts but on top of that many times specs are not even mentioned in detail. imagine getting for example an i7 or an i9 with stock cooler and entry level motherboards or various other bad and dangerous combinations, not to talk about aesthetics or the installation of extra fans... but what is even worse than all of these is that the expense of numerous such systems is out of this world. their profit for each system is simply ridiculous.. with the same money most of the times you can make a pc with 2 ,3,4 times up the perfomance, not to mention quality or aesthetics. My point is even if you have no idea about pc's and you want a prebuild make you research or ask someone about your interest towards an offer. it is not a shame. Also if you do have some kind of knowledge but not confident to build it, i strongly advice you to get compatible parts and ask a company or a friend to simply assemple it. Nevertheless i also understand that people may prefer or want something complete, without messing around whatsoever. I liked your presentation and comparison, in future videos i would like to see details such as thermals,bios settings,accoustics and cable management. Last but not least i would like to mention that regarding perfomance there can be cases where the prebuild in this example may win, especially with dual channel ram. Not so often in heavy RT scenarios but most specifiicaly in very high stable frame rates. In a rare scenario you are pro player and want a stable 240fps experience(assuming you have 240hz monitor) your fps games typically will benefit more from a better cpu rather than a better gpu(assuming is kinda modern and capable). Also if you are just doing cpu intense tasks and dont care about gaming it is most of the times the same case. Great video thanks for sharing

You can buy Windows activation keys for $12-20 USD. Done it for years and Microsoft never batted an eye. Legit copy, no watermark. I'd give the edge to your system: Better gpu, ram and storage. Cheers.

ray tracing performance on AMD cards is just not good. the price of a 4060 right now is cheap and dlss upscaling is much cleaner than FSR. I was team red for a long time but its hard now when you can run FSR frame gen and DLSS at the same time (simple mod within game file) and have the best of both worlds with an Nvidia card. Currently building a cheap rig off a P520 work stations.(6 core 12 thread xeon base clock of 3.7Ghz, 1tb NVME 2 tb ssd 32GB ram (unfortunately max speed is 2666) with a 4060 and I am total cost $550.

Why don't PC companies do Kit PC's, A flat pack PC bundle, Even the case and just charge a certain percentage, Make a link or You Tube channel explaining how or a Set by Step video of some sort, You could even do a Father and Son PC build, Or a Father and Daughter, Or even a Mother and Daughter kit PC, I think it an amazing thing to be able to teach your child what you learn and sometimes you learn yourself when showing someone how to do something, But yeah Bundle Kit PC's, And with the different combinations you can put together, There is no holds bars, So yeah for me DIY'ing your PC is the way to go, If you is a mechanics, Plumer or have a skilled job and is good with your hands and brain, Then a PC build won't be hard, And when you done one, lol.....

But these prebuilt companies don't pay $140 for windows either....I think u were way too fair in the prebuilts favor....one stick of ram is bad no matter which color they used....I'll always build my own

Prebuilt loses every benefit when you find out they have configured it wrong. Nobody should be selling prebuilt with a single stick of RAM in 2024. The information on performance implications of this is so easily and readily available, I can only assume the omission of dual channel is sheer laziness and/or lack of will.

Wait a minute, first you have the two systems and you did a not actually TEST the cooling but made a determination of which was better? Your logic is not flawed but the fact you ignored actually testing but then ditz a PSU for lack of testing shows some serious BS. Also anyone using the term "future proofing" when talking about a build they tend to be showing a complete lack of knowledge.
