After years of working with 8020 extruded aluminum profiles, I have developed a few valuable tricks to make the build go smoother and create a better result. If you are working with 8020, this is the most important video you will ever watch. Trust me... 😊

I have used 8020 to build CNC machines and one thing that I've learned is that if your project will be in, on, or near anything that moves, some of those fasteners will come loose. Blue Loctite is your friend. Inevitably, the one that comes loose first is the one that is the hardest to access.

So I must admit when I saw the thumbnail and the beginning of this video I almost started getting a headache at the thought of how much my brain was going to have to work and take in to understand how to work with this stuff. Sir the way you explained things was so simplistic a caveman like myself could relate. Thank you for the video and for renewing my faith in myself! ✌🏽

WOW! Best time I have ever spent on YT. You cant beat people who have practical experience. The tips, tricks and specific details are great. There are people in high dollar "schools" that arent as educated. Thank you so much for sharing. WIll be visiting this channel in prep for my attempt at 8020.

Every episode has been a master class, my friend. Not unlike a great classic motion picture 🎥 that you’ve seen 10 times yet discover something new each time. I find myself “needing” to rewatch 🍿 previous episodes waiting for your next release. You’re a natural educator and your lessons are taken to heart. Thanks again❗️👍

I'm glad I know how to weld and have an aluminum welder. Way lighter, and infinitely cheaper. Did my entire van with 1" square alum tubing for about $100. Great option for those who don't have access to a welder, though. My inlaws used those on their build, and turned out great, but they paid for it.

Looks like you could benefit a LOT from a 1/4" socket set. It should be small enough to line up perfectly every time. Funnily enough, in general, I use my 1/4" socket set 90 percent of the time vs my 3/8" and 1/2" drive.

Your tips are so simple, but incredibly important to the finished outcome of the project. It's the simple things that are often overlooked causing frustration when things don't square up on the next step. Thanks for thinking of EVERYTHING and then sharing that information to alleviate that frustration for those of us in the DIY universe! :)

Very interesting -- especially after seeing far too many van builds made with 2x4s! Also... And you're sooo close with the mini-me. It just needs a place to sit -- to work, prepare food, eat, relax, read, watch tv, etc. Maybe a 1/3 of the bed could fold up to become a chair? -- with leg room, armrests and an adjustable backrest. And when needed, a table top could fold down from the wall! Options! 😉
@HumbleRoad

Yes, we could all that to the Mini Me and more! However, I want to keep to a certain price point for the initial purchase.

Ciao George, I've been an avid RV'er for years, started out in 1971 in a Ford Econoline van with a portable toilet , sink and a green pump fuel stove. I'm on my third mortorhome and my wife, Debbie, enjoy ever minute of it from Myrtal Beach to all of the state parks in West Virginia, including New Jersey one summer. As a retired Tech Ed instructor and administrator, I've watched everyone of your You Tube posts and have enjoyed them immensely. Your presentations, your attention too detali, your hummor, and your williingness to share are commendable. I have a seperate machinewelding and wood shop and you have almost tempted me on a journey to build a custom van. Looking forward too future videos. Grazie mille, Roman

Hi. Great video. Could you do one specifically on the different ways to add draws. Such as putting the runners directly on the 80/20 vs using a wood insert like a box or a panel and mounting that to the 80/20. Thanks. And again love your content.
