I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzfaq.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

What I like about your videos is the saws are ready to go you don’t spend half the video tuning the saw on the high showing us the RPM, you put the saws to work!!

Gettin ready to dive into a new 880 and it has a duromatic 47” and I was wondering the difference in chain speed vs rolomatic ES bars...never used a hard nose and don’t wanna hinder the 880s power in any way...I think the 41” 3/8s 50g would spin fast as any...what’s your thoughts
@em47032 жыл бұрын
Your chain maintenance/sharpening routine and skill will have a bigger impact on cut speed than the rollomatic/duromatic friction difference.
@ikesquirrel2 жыл бұрын
I prefer roller nose bars. The nose is a high friction area and chain friction is a big power loss.

Do you think if you had a 3/8th on the 661 it would have cut down your time? I had 4 880s and recently sold 3 and also sold my 2 3120s because I never used them. 661 seems to handle it all for me.

The 880 has gobs of power! Pretty hard to beat the 661 most of the time.

unless you are running a 36" or bigger bar all the time the 880 doesn't seem worth the extra cost and weight to me just my opinion

Redbull661...Thanks. I thought it might have been a probe to a computer that would give RPMs through the entire cut like an oscilloscope. If I cut more wood I would definitely be hooking up with Scott. Not many people willing to share knowledge like he does. My mentor in marine surveying once told me that "I'll teach you all that I know because by the time I am done I will have learned a lot more and still know more than you." I think that describes Scott...he's teaching old school tricks he's learned while experimenting and learning all of the nuances in the new saws and how to make them perform better.

Thinking of buying a chainsaw mill. Was thinking of the 880, What would you suggest?
@positiveaspect57303 жыл бұрын
chainsaw milling is pretty hard going. if you are going to use it exclusively as a milling saw and maybe firewood saw (for big rounds) go for it. If you want something a bit more versatile then go with a 661c-m. By the way, I've seen a ported ms661c-m that was slightly faster than a stock ms880. I don't know whether it would be faster than the ms881 though. My boss used to use a chainsaw mill but now he's got the large lucas portable sawmill. He's had it for about 18months and has made his money back twice on it. You'll never do that with a chainsaw mill irrespective of how big the saw engine is.

@@Redbull661 Thanks I thought it was skip on the 661. My stock 880 runs good with full skip and 8 pin. Full comp with 8 pin bogs it too much. Runs good with 7 pin full comp.
