I tried this on a 1990 Nissan 300zx twin turbo. I was changing an alternator when this happened out of the blue. I never thought they had a fuel pump control module. Thanks for the video, this did fix the problem. To answer your question the turbos and non turbos are the same as far as fuel pressure. 35 to 42 psi.

That’s awesome man I’m glad it helped you out. I was scratching my head for a little while before I figured this one out 😅

Very informative, thanks, my fpcu is bad so I'll try this!!!

Bypassing the FPCU is indeed a very bad idea: _it removes some stress on the fuel pump when not sollicited. TT have 3 levels: 6, 10 and 14V. NA has only 2 AFAIR _it removes some pressure a 3bar FPR can't handle at idle when using a big pump, walbro 450lph typically just keep your FPCU, upgrade the MOSFETs to 60A versions and fit your 450lph pump. I have done this 5 years ago. Works like a charm.

I have a problem with my 91 Z. When I turn the key off, it doesn't shut off the engine. Someone suggested it was the fuel sending unit. Is this component the same as the FPCU? Could that be keeping my engine running? Some of the symptoms I'm experiencing are; gauges shut off with key, Bat light comes on as well as Airbag, the RPM drops a little. The engine kept running, and when I gave it time to run out of gas, it didn't stop until I got impatient and stalled it with the clutch. I'm thinking the fuel pump remained running. Any ideas? I'll check that when I'm at the car again. Keep forgetting to

I'm curious what the electrolytic capacitors on the circuit board in the Fuel Pump Control Module looks like & values are behind the driver seat. I've pulled mine out years ago and replaced the electrolytic capacitors on the circuit board as these components are not made to last 30+ years.

you're indeed wrong, the capacitors used are high temp and high frequency capacitors, so high quality, to resist the current ripple from the MOSFETs but they must face the worst conditions

What if you ground that wire from the pump side will that work?
@fixitish
@fixitish Жыл бұрын
Technically as long as the pump has a ground it will work wherever you decide to put it.

So funny story my (n.a body 2+0) that is ls swapped has all stock setup minus a walbro 255, and went to a car show Saturday Sat for 9hrs then did same as yours starts then I watch afr lean out. So I limped it home sadly, to low for a tow and got home a tried somthing simular to this after checking the basic fuses ect. But I pulled the (black wire) off the pig tail and ran it to the same ground as yours and plugged it back in. Bam runs and drives fine but wires get hot AF. But I feel you used a different color for the ground am I correct?
@fixitish
@fixitish 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the white wire is the one you need to use. The black one should still work but is too thin and that’s probably why it’s getting hot on you. I originally assumed the black wire was ground as well, I mean it’s almost always black right?

@@fixitish awsome I even just double checked I used the black so you never had hot issues?
@fixitish
@fixitish 2 жыл бұрын
@@Vortec.Z32 if you still have the white wire only use that one as your ground and you shouldn’t have any issues with it getting hot

@@fixitish oook so I did this an now noo power to pump at all? I'm using the solid white wire from the 3 wire pigtail with the other colors only being solid orange and black. Which makes zero scents to me. Because the white wire connects to the black one of the tank side I'm currently using that causes my hot wire issue?

@@Vortec.Z32 maybe I can make a short video on it so I can show you how it should be. We should have the same pump as well a walbro 255

Will bypassing that module make the ecu throw codes? My fuel pump sounds like Darth Vader's back there when I first pull off to drive
@fixitish
@fixitish Жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t. I have no ecu codes but if your pump sounds like that it might just need the force, or a new pump lol
