‘See the conquering hero comes’ is a British patriotic song written by George Friedrich Handel from 1746. The song refers to the British who fought the Jacobites in the uprising of 1745. Its lyrics refer to a stylistic form of war, the ‘conquering hero’ and the British Empire in its various forms.
I’m unsure where this recording is originally form.

The Conquering hero refers to Cumberland, not to his soldiers. Due to Cumberland actions this song is impopular in Scotland. And it shouldn't be a surprise since the goverment in the aftermant not only took actions againts those who were Jacobite, but also those who supported the Goverment. Like President of the Court Session, Duncan Forbes, who supported the goverment, dissuaded some Clan chiefs from taking the Jacobite side trough bribes or using his influnce, tried to organize armed resistance in favour of the goverment, said to his cousin in the aftermath of the govermnet reaction: if i were to live longer willie i could only cry with you over the fate of my country.

@@jon9021 There were many in Scotland in 1746 who celebrated the defeat of the Jacobite cause at Culloden. Duncan Forbes was rather more ambiguous in his comments than suggested above, writing that severity was necessary.

im a cuban spanish nationalist but to deny the this song being a reality more then truth is plain fantasy and britains "worse" atrocity being the bengal famines was caused by japanese naval blockaded it was just wartime measures commited by an outside imperial force being japan.

A majority are from the film ‘Revolution’ from 1985. And the rest are various clips from films and documentaries about the 7 years war, I don’t remember exact names for all of them, but there is a bit from ‘Barry Lyndon’ and ‘The last of the mohicans’
