whished i had seen this before i spent thousands on new heads for overheating which cracked heads may not have been complete problem makes me now wonder... so long 6.o after high p oil pump egr cooler and several other problems like ford so in market for the 7.3 just wondering do you see same issues with 6.4 and 6.7 that seem to plague 6.0 ....side note the diesel mech that had a utube channel that died in the accident your are a very good replacement for honest advice

I saw a video by power stroke help and bought part number 10238 because of that video. Should I put the stock one back on?

Very true statement. Plan a head with the 6.0,have the caps before they are needed. I stopped at 2 different Ford dealerships in northern Michigan looking for a cap and neither had them in stock. Was told they don't stock them because they don't fail. All of the 6.0 owners know this to be FALSE. Be proactive about it and purchase them in advance.

I have 2 (Superduty and Excursion) and always use Ford radiator caps, oil filters, fuel filter kits (hcfm and on top the engine). Yeah, they do go bad. My Mercury Grand Marquis uses the same cap.

Will idling for a few hours or over night hurt the engine? Or should I idle it at a higher rpm? Also will water methanol injection kit help with that?

Didn’t have coolant problems on my 7.3 until my fomoco reservoir started leaking air at one of the plastic seams 😮

I installed a GT38R and it's worked well. A lot of people commented that KC turbos makes a really good upgraded drop in turbo.

Radiator caps are important, radiator caps are important, radiator caps are important, radiator caps..... All jokes aside, thank you, been watching your powerstroke(such a funny name) videos, as I'm considering an F250, and all the ones in finding are diesel, probably for a reason even on auction . Thanks again.

That is sage advice indeed. Always go with the factory parts. In both my own vehicles & heavy equipment as well as those I have repaired for others since Bill Clinton was in office, the manufacturer parts are nearly always a better buy for your vehicle. Pricey parts are worth it when proven against cheaper alternatives. Dorman, and those other “OEM manufacturers” cut corners on quality and will leave you, your loved ones, and your customers, waiting for a tow.

Honestly it depends on the product. For cars you can cheap out a lot more. My kia optima is held together with zipties and the cheapest chinesium parts available. Engines like this need better parts. Oem for most vehicles is just as cheap as aftermarket.

Stephen, my brother-in-law has a 2001 7.3 powerstroke that has blown apart three degassing overflow tanks in quick succession. he just had it into the shop for a problem with two injectors. The shop pulled out all eight to test them. On the test drive by the repair shop immediately after the work was done the tank blew. They replaced the tank, did a test drive and it was fine. The truck was taken back home and then the next day driven to a job site about a hundred miles away. Just as they got to the job site today the tank blew again at the seams. What do you think is the most likely problem? Just a bad cap that's not venting and causing too much system pressure? Supposedly it was an oem tank. Have you seen where aftermarket tanks are of poor quality and this could happen? In other videos about the injector cups causing coolant problems you mentioned that the 7.3 seldom overheats. Is if possible there's actually an injector cup problem causing the coolant pressure to build, maybe combined with a bad radiator cap? The shop told him that the injector cups were inspected, but from your other videos I can tell there's really no good way to inspect those cups without removing them. We would appreciate any advice or guidance.
