An honest review of the 2015, 1.6 Vauxhall Mokka!
It was £149 for the first service, ignore the quote I gave in the video, it was wrong!

What a great yet simple review. I changed my Mercedes ML for a Mokka 1.4 Turbo just 2 months ago, and so far I am beyond pleased. Its a great car. The Mercedes was surplus to requiements after we sold our 6 berth touring caravan, and I can honestly say that the only thing I miss is the huge Mercedes boot. The Mokka is much easier in every aspect - but ease of access and parking are foremost. During my 2 months of ownership, we had a 1 weeks, 1000 mile plus, trip to Devon, and every mile was a joy to drive. It took over 6 hours just to get there via a countyside route, with just a stop for lunch, and we arrived fresh and without any aches or pains. Its the smallest engined car that I've owned in over 40 years, but wow it's surprisingly "a goer", and I've owned some performers including e-type, cosworth RS500, Mercedes SEC, BMW635, Volvo T5 to name a few. Should anything happen to change my mind I will edit my comment, but so far, very pleased, and so are my family.

Hi to myself (and silverhawk). Had my Mokka 12 months now and just to add to my comment above......STILL LOVING IT. I'ts a great drive, and a great touch is the 240 volt socket. I use it all the time as I carry a cooler in the boot, but its ideal for allsorts, 1 example is charging my 18 volt drill en-route. Highly recommended.

Hey, thanks for the review - best online. Getting one delivered on Monday so was cool to get an idea of what to expect. Plus it's great to see it's comfortable for a dog in the back. Thanks!

I have a 1.4 Turbo SE auto, I took delivery of it in August 2016, my previous car was a Zafira 1.9 TDI. I learned some time ago to use my wing mirrors for reversing, which I find easy now, so the visibility restrictions discussed are not a problem for me. However, the rear view is somewhat restricted but not necessarily any more than other cars competing in this market. I can easily understand why other drivers can be compromised by the restricted rear view, but essentially it comes down to driving style, preference or, indeed, confidence. In other reviews I have read it has been said that the car can be noisy, but I have found noise level depends on road surfaces and possibly tyres. You can pick on finishes but what we have to remember is we are not looking at a high end swanky car. This car is an honest mid range car that has all the usual extras that you may want plus a little bit of swank, the engine isn't that bad either. As I said, my last car was a Zafira 1.9 Turbo TDi, my 1.4 turbo Mokka matches that power with a little bit extra. I am very happy with my Mokka, but I can understand why some may not be as happy. In the end, like everything, it comes down to personal choice.

Love mine but I totally understand about the limited view. At first I had trouble reverse parking for about a week but that was mainly worrying about scratching the sides on the wall in the Carpark. It has sensors but they are a little too sensitive so you can get a little closer than they warn. After a week you become an expert at parking. I was used to my little car but love being high up and it has comfort all round for drivers and passengers. I only bother with the arm rest on the motorways, if you are stop starting all the time it would be a pain with the hand break. You also have storage under the passenger seat and a plug socket in the back.

thats a good review thanks , the new mokka X brought me here , ive been planing and saving to get a mazda cx3 before 2017 but the new mokka x made me to think if im doing the right thing or not ! im a university student as well and cargo space does not really concern me , how is the suspension ? do you feel every up and down of the road ? is the cabin noisy on the high way ? i read in more than a few websites that handling just ok not more ! thank you in advance
@rhodeini
@rhodeini 7 жыл бұрын
The only thing I could recommend to you is to go for a test drive in the Mokka, it will answer all of your questions! I can say that the suspension is OK.. wind noise is pretty quiet to be honest! - And engine noise depends on the engine you go for. petrol is usually quieter and diesel engines are more noticeable/noisy. Thanks for the view! let me know how you get on! :)

I have just got the mokka x and whilst it’s a lovely car to drive and comfortable I find the same problem with the hand-brake . It’s awkward to press that button if you have your seat forward too much as I’m short i have to be further forward I find I can’t engage the hand brake because of the button can’t see why it’s on top as most are on the end on other cars . I have a reverse park camera in mine so no problem with parking . But otherwise nice car and plus I like the room in the car because I have a physical disability .

Handbrake button should NEVER be pressed in whilst engaging. This has the potential to not fully engage if pressed in, either through complacency or just not having enough strength to pull it up fully (on some older model cars). The mechanism will NOT wear out AT ALL, and I say this as a fully qualified mechanic for Volkswagen/Audi.

I learnt to drive in one somewhat recently, was curious as to the full details as it was a (quote-on-quote) easy car to drive. Not only that, but wiring up a mains socket is a pain; having a mains-type socket running for laptop/phone/vaccum charges would be awesomely convenient.

Good review Ben, the mpg is great with the petrol only doing 62 compared to the diesel doing 75 + on a run. in my Vectra the screen displays both name and No. was wondering if it might be your phone ? in my merc work van I have trouble mating my android Samsung to the system, it picks up the data but that's it, cant ring out. love the interior on that motor mate, I am defo going to get one through the motability scheme, so will have parking sensors on it so no worries about flattening old ladies in reverse ! True to your word you uploaded this Honest real world review and its much appreciated, great stuff.

Since I have a 2015 Buick Encore (the North American version of the Mokka) and mine has the upgraded GM Intellilink System, I thought I would mention that mine actually shows the name of the contact every time someone calls me. So I guess it’s only the basic radio interface that has that issue you mentioned on not showing the contact name. But who knows?
@rhodeini
@rhodeini 6 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it displayed the name and sometimes it doesn't, it's weird! How're you finding your Car?
@coolguy6233
@coolguy6233 6 жыл бұрын
silvahawk0 LOL. I used to have a Bluetooth Headphones that only said the phone number of any contact I have that is calling me. Not the name that is on that contact, which I find weird. Whenever I get a call while my Encore is connected to my phone and if it’s somebody in my contacts, it always says the name that is stored in the contact that is stored that specific phone number. If you’re getting a call from someone who is NOT in your contacts, then of course, it only shows the phone number. Just look up a review of the 2015 Buick Encore and you’ll see how different the radio in the Encore is compared to this radio, even though the same radio buttons and knobs are still there. Even the base model Encore has the same radio system as the top of the line Premium model, which is what I have.

you dont have to press the button to pull handbrake. They work like a ratchet, they are intended to be used that way, your engine would wear out 20 times before you wear those teeth down.
@grahamehorne2137
@grahamehorne2137 6 жыл бұрын
Absolute Rubbish, you should always press the button on the handbrake lever, your even taught this during driving lessons, the gear sprocket will wear out and not lock correctly after time, which is a safety issue !!!!!!!!!!!
@AlexGreenwoodUkulele
@AlexGreenwoodUkulele 6 жыл бұрын
As a mechanic, I have NEVER come across people using it as it's intended (and required to be used by the manufacturer handbook.) and having it break. There is literally NEVER a case where someone's worn out the handbrake mechanism. The only way you could potentially wear it out is if you do it so fast at once that it physically heats up. The high-grade steel it's made of will NOT wear unless it's used twice every second for eighteen years straight by some manufacturer's research, some even longer. Stop spreading your fearmongering crap....
