New Vauxhall Mokka 2013 - Which? Car first drive

This is the first time that Vauxhall has launched a compact 4x4. No doubt inspired by the success of the Nissan Juke and the predicted continuing rise in popularity of supermini-sized SUVs, the Mokka arrives as a strong contender.
At 4278mm long, it's actually quite a lot bigger than the Juke. In fact it's just a couple of inches shorter than the Qashqai, so it sits between these two cars in the marketplace.
Designed in Europe, but actually built in Korea, the Mokka is available in front-wheel drive form as well as four-wheel drive, but is clearly more like a traditional SUV than the Nissan Juke, which is nominally marketed as a regular supermini.

I learnt to drive in a mokka 1.4. Love it, super comfy to drive.

Best car I've owned. I have the 1.7 (130) engine and its not slow or noisy like some suggest. Having read the reviews, this is what concerned me most. Fit and finish is excellent and certainly superior to all the other crossovers I looked at before choosing the Mokka. Bose sound system is very nice. I have the AFL lights which are awesome. There will be a 1.6 diesel in 2015 which will no doubt be better but I have no complaints at all.

Im planing to buy used pone just like yours 1.7cdi 130hps, do have some tips for me?

The 1.7 was the best engine. The newer 1.6 is decent but I prefer the older engines character, especially with the auto box.

@@oddities-whatnot the 1.6 diesel is quiet in comparison but the timing chain issues with that engine are bad

Fantastic car I had one for 5 years the 1.7tdi. Yes its orange have no nose issues on motorway Got lots of e bay parts my car has 6000 miles and I will definitely have another one but it will be a 4x4 👍🇬🇧

The Mokka 1.7 CDTi auto was a great car. Strong, agricultural sounding engine. Dont bother with the AWD version, its only mildly useful for winter weather on the roads, certainly not off road.

So the only cars to compare it are Nissans? Skoda Yeti for one - holds it's value, lovely range of engines and does not rattle after 2 weeks....

Will they really ? Ive never noticed that on any Mokka. Ride firmer on larger alloys but thats about it.

Its agricultural yes, but its not competing with dickheads in BMWs so there isnt a problem. Only problem is the obsession with speed these days. Bad drivers never admit to being bad drivers. Thats the problem.

Not really if you stick to the smaller standard alloys, the ride quality is fine.

With the extra large body panels, messy and cluttered front end, wing mirrors that look like a golf club sock or even Shrek's ears together with a cheap tacky interior, this car just cant compete with the new Qashqai. It just lacks any style in my opinion. I have seen a few on the roads and I just wonder why a city driver would buy one over a conventional hatchback.

The qashqai has become too common. Its a decent car but 99% of them on the road are front wheel drive only as well, its a pretentious school run car thats become "on trend" by nauseating smug mums who spend their whole day posting their lives on Facebook etc. Why would you consider a Qashqai over a conventional hatchback then either ? Your comment is contradicting itself.
